Neither can we! And now that the holidays are over and the Disney parks are settling back into their groove, let’s recap EVERYTHING we know about the new attraction that is COMING SOON to Hollywood Studios!

What is Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway?

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a first-of-its-kind attraction. The trackless dark ride will take guests inside the “wacky and unpredictable world of a Mickey Mouse cartoon short” using “state-of-the-art technologies and dazzling visual effects to transform the cartoon world into an incredible and immersive multi-dimensional experience!”

Which Disney park is Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway coming to?

Disney World’s Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be opening first at Hollywood Studios while the west coast will also be getting a version of the ride which will be located in Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland.

When is Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway opening?

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is opening in Hollywood Studios on March 4th, 2020. Disneyland’s version isn’t scheduled to open until sometime in 2022.

Where is Disney World’s Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway located?

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is located in Disney World’s Hollywood Studios where the former Great Movie Ride used to be. And don’t worry — the exterior of the Chinese Theater still features the same iconic design and architecture as when it housed the Great Movie Ride despite the major changes that have happened on the inside!

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway also features a similar-looking neon marquee — it’s giving us all The Great Movie Ride FEELS! We’re glad they decided to keep some of its glorious nostalgia around for those of us who are sentimental about this sorta stuff!

And speaking of The Great Movie Ride, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway’s ride vehicles are very similar-looking to the ones used by the former attraction — with the addition of the cartoony-steam engine, you’ll find at its front. And who’s driving your train? Why, it’s train conductor Goofy! We sure hope he knows what he’s doing!

What is the SPOILER-FREE story behind Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway?

On Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, you’ll be magically transported into the animated world of the new Mickey cartoon shorts! You’ll zip alongside Mickey and Minnie in their sporty roadster who are on their way to “The Perfect Picnic”. And since this IS the cartoon world, don’t expect the normal laws of physics to apply! Things are going to get zany on this adventure. Along with the original story, the new ride will also feature an original song titled “Nothing Can Stop Us Now”!

We think folks of every age will enjoy riding Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway! While the ride will definitely be on the wackier side of Disney’s fantastical attractions, it’ll be an especially great family-friendly option for guests traveling with small children and grandparents! As long as you’re not allergic to a good time, you should definitely give Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway a chance when it opens!

Will Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway offer FastPass?

Yes! Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be a top tier FastPass location along with Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Slinky Dog Dash. The building’s facade shows that there is a FastPass entrance is located on the left side of the building while the standby line will form on the right side. You can currently book FastPasses on My Disney Experience NOW!

Anything else I should know about Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway?

Yes! Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will have more hidden Mickeys than any Disney park attraction you’ve ever ridden!

Oh, and the sound effects you’ll be hearing throughout your raucous adventure are all created the old-fashioned way — BY HAND! We’re having flashbacks to Hollywood Studios’ sound stage from those Studio Backlot Tour good ol’ days!

And here’s an interesting tidbit — one of the three original whistles used in Steamboat Willie is being used in the attraction to provide sound in Goofy’s part of the story! SO COOL!

Lastly, a Mickey Shorts Theater will also be opening sometime in March 2020 where you can watch some of the new Mickey and gang cartoons that the new attraction is based on!
