We realize the Black Spire Outpost is situated on a far-away alien planet, but things took a truly bizarre turn on Batuu this morning!
And right about now, you should be considering yourself VERY lucky if you visited Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios before Rise of the Resistance opened!
While we’re used to having to wait longer for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run since Rise of the Resistance debuted (luckily we’ll soon be able to use FastPasses for Smugglers Run, so no biggie!) we’re NOT used to waiting in line to enter a Disney World shop! That’s why we were shocked to see a queue outside Droid Depot just before noon today with a 60-minute wait time!Â
Considering you’ll spend $99.99 +tax to build-your-own-droid once you get in, this is ONE expensive wait! It is important to note that this was likely the standby line. Those with reservations should have been able to skip ahead and go on in at their set time. If you have a reservation and see this line, we suggest speaking with a Cast Member as they should be able to assist you!
And get this! Droid Depot wasn’t alone! Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities also had a line just to go in! We can wait 30 minutes in a standby line to ride one of our favorite attractions or meet a rare character standing on our heads, but to enter a gift shop to spend a bunch of money? This might be pushing it a little.
This is the first time we’ve personally seen these two Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge gift shops post wait times, and so far we’ve only seen them at Droid Depot and Dok-Ondar’s. We’ll let you know if we see any other shops start doing this as well, so stay tuned for developments!

We go every few weeks and this is nothing new over the past few months. Started around the middle of December and normally happens on the weekends. During the week, it’s not too bad.
Christine says
The dok ondor’s line is only for the specialty light sabers. The rest of the shop doesn’t have a line.
Jennifer says
I saw one of these signs for Rontos Roasters last time we went. It only had a 10 minute wait but there was a sign and a cast member holding the sign…so not just gift shops but also food places.

On Thurs 2/6/20 Den of Antiquities had quite a long line (id say 30 min) outside when we arrived around 10:30am. It had dropped off later in the afternoon. Didn’t see one at Droid depot but it was HOPPIN in there. We arrived early for our reservation and they were able to bump us up. There was a standby line at that time (3pm ish)
K says
Do you know how that worked if you had droid depot reservations? We’re they still waiting an hour to get in?
Blayne says
We were in Galaxy’s Edge last week and saw waits at Dock-Ondar’s but came back in the evening for no wait. I’m glad they started the queue for light sabers, though. When we were there in November it was crazy and the queue was much easier and actually faster. 🙂 Got our saber in no time!

K, I’m double-checking on this for you, but I would expect those with reservations would find a cast member at the shop entrance and check in without waiting in the line. If I find out differently, I’ll update!
James M. says
We saw this most days for Droid Depot when we were there in January. It doesn’t affect reservations (thankfully) but it’s a heck of a wait. Glad we reserved a spot.
Chris says
What happened to all the trolls predicting that Galaxy’s Edge would be a flop?…..crickets.
Matthew says
This is pretty typical in Disneyland. They usually don’t break out the sign but plenty of times the shops have reached capacity and they queue a line outside. Happened more when the land first opened but I’ve seen it on crowded days.
Vdub says
I think the shop wait times aren’t favourable. Perhaps they have reached over capacity in the park and it’s about time they set some visitor capacity parameters or things will start getting 80s cabbage patch wild!

We were at WDW last week and at HS for evening EMH. During EMH Galaxy’s Edge was practically deserted. 30 mins to get on Millennium Falcon.
