Epcot’s multi-year transformation is upon us and, unfortunately, that means an old favorite has closed for good!
We’ve known for a while that we could expect the closure of Electric Umbrella before the end of the year (sad face). Today, though, we’ve had to say goodbye forever!
Electric Umbrella was a quick-service location for burgers, salads, and more, but it wasn’t just a prime spot for the food! The restaurant had so much room for guests to kick back and relax as they took in an awesome view of the Fountain of Nations.
Now, with the Fountains being removed and many other changes happening around Future World, it’s no surprise that we’re losing this classic restaurant. But, we are still totally sad to see it go! 🙁 Although we couldn’t fully get to see Electric Umbrella with the construction, you can spot the top of the restaurant behind the walls built around Future World.
In fact, a lot of Future World looks pretty different today with closures abound. Pin Central has also closed today! You can the top of the structure peeking out from above the construction walls.
Of course, there is an upside to all the construction! Taste Track is set to begin serving hamburgers soon and Eats at the Epcot Experience just debuted a new menu to serve other family-friendly faves so guests have a chance to snack on the same classics, even with Electric Umbrella closing. Plus, the food scene at Epcot is about to get A LOT cooler with Space 220 opening soon (who’s ready to dine at the Space Station with us??).
There are also a bunch of new signs around Epcot to help you navigate where you’re going!

While we’re going to miss Electric Umbrella, we are eager to see all the changes coming to Epcot soon!

Mark says
I will miss the Electric Umbrella. I haven’t been to WDW in over 16 years, but I always began my day at Epcot. I’d eat at The Electric Umbrealla, so I will miss this place immensely.
Katie says
I’ll miss the Electric Umbrella, my husband and I loved people-watching there in the AC and getting a quick lunch before we went into world showcase.
Conrad Richardson says
Electric umbrella was my favorite. REALLY sad 😢 and will miss it!
Donna says
My granddaughter and I are sad to see EU go, too; we have had many lunches there, cooling off from the heat that is especially bad at EPCOT in the summer months. Can’t wait to try Taste Track and Eats at Epcot Experience. Going to be a totally new place when all changes are completed. Sad to lose favorites, but excited for new adventures.
William Huffman says

Maureen says
I’m very sad! I loved sitting outside, watching the birds and the fountain. We have been going to WDW since 1998, and have seen so many changes. I guess the hard part for me is I have such sentimental attachment to so many places, our first trip my daughter was 4 years old-and we have gone so many times since. Plus, they had great chicken strips!
Crissy says
Hello there everyone! Does anyone know where we can now find a Cronut at Epcot? It’s changed homes a few different times and it is one of our FAVS!!
DFB Sarah says
Crissy, as far as I know, it is not anywhere at the moment. Joffrey’s offers something they’re calling a cronut. Linking a picture here so you can check it out.
Lisa says
I haven’t been to WDW since 2015 but I’m thinking of getting there soon … & top of my list was the Electric Umbrella. I realize I’m a bit behind it, but now that I know, I’m bummed 😔
Elizabeth Eckhart says
Dad, in 2000 my husband and I used to go there for their French toast in the morning or sometimes other different items for breakfast but anyway we are still enjoy it there and then we go back for chicken tenders for lunch etc. going to miss that I went in 2002 and we enjoyed being there again, and then I went back with my sister in 2013 after my husband passed away. My sister and I enjoyed it there.
