While many guests prefer to prepay for their meals by purchasing a Disney Dining Plan (or better yet, scoring free dining!), others enjoy having more flexibility when it comes to what and where they’ll be eating on their Disney World vacation.
But today, Disney has just rolled out a FOURTH Disney Dining Plan option! It’s called Disney Dining Plan Plus, and it might just offer folks who want to pay for their food ahead of time without feeling “locked-in” to their selections the BEST of BOTH worlds!
Depending on which level of the Disney Dining Plan you buy into, you’re allocated a certain number of credits per day to use on meals and snacks.
The Quick Service Dining Plan, which is also the least expensive package, includes 2 quick service meal credits and 2 snack credits. Meanwhile, the Disney Standard Dining Plan offers 1 quick service meal, 1 table service meal, and 2 snack credits per day, and the most-expensive Disney Deluxe Dining Plan entitles guests to 3 meals per day (quick service or table service) and 2 snack credits per day.
What Disney Dining Plan Plus Includes
And now there’s the Disney Dining Plan Plus which includes 2 meal credits to use any way you like along with 2 snack credits per day! That means you can enjoy dining at any combination of quick service or table service restaurants, much like the Deluxe option!
Take a closer look at the NEW Disney Dining Plan Plus option here!
But with this flexibility in mind, it is important to note that it is still recommended that you book your table service reservations in advance. So, you will likely still be making some pretty big dining decisions weeks, maybe even months in advance.
When You Can Book Disney Dining Plan Plus
The NEW Disney Dining Plan Plus opened today, February 27th, 2020, and can be used as early as February 28th, 2020!
As with Disney’s other DDPs, credits can roll over and gratuity is not already factored into the cost of your meal, so you’ll still have to tip your servers! And remember — only guests staying at a Walt Disney World resort are eligible to book a Disney Dining Plan.
Will the Disney Dining Plan save YOU money? Find out more HERE!
Since this new Disney Dining Plan Plus that isn’t as restrictive as a Quick Service or Standard Disney Dining Plan but isn’t as over-the-top as the Deluxe Dining Plan, we expect it will be a popular new option to have! This is basically a choose-your-own-adventure of Disney Dining Plans, allowing you to be free from many of the constrictions we normally associate with these Disney Dining Plans.
But like all of the Disney Dining Plans, you’ll still be eating A LOT of chow! Remember — some of items you can use one of your snack credits on can basically double as a meal — like these GIANT Bubble Waffles from AristoCrêpes! And since you get 2 snack credits with every single DDP to help fill in the gaps between meals, to put it frankly, you’re gonna be STUFFED!
See our TOP 2020 snack credit picks here!
Does This Option Include Refillable Mugs?
And don’t worry about refillable mugs, people! Just like the other DDPs, the new Disney Dining Plan Plus also comes with an unlimited drink cup you can refill back at your resort to your heart’s content!

Disney Dining Plan Plus Pricing
The price of the Disney Dining Plan Plus is $94.61 (per night) for adults (ages 10 and up) and $35.01 (per night) for children (ages 3-9) including tax. This puts is right between the Disney Standard Dining Plan and the Disney Deluxe Dining Plan in terms of price.
For example, here’s a price comparison for a family of four with two children (ages 13 and 16). This includes a stay at Port Orleans and a 5-day base ticket (no park hopper).

You got the deluxe plan wrong 3 meal credits not 2
Michael Charles says
You accidentally put that the Deluxe Plan only gives you 2 table service meals instead of 3. So Deluxe is STILL the best value (as its the only plan where appetizers are included for Lunch and Dinner) but, my goodness, who can eat ALL of that FOOD!?! Thank you for the super fast reporting on the new Plus plan! You guys are ON IT!
Callie says
I really wonder if for free dining, the the moderate hotel guests will get the Disney Dining Plan and deluxe hotel guests will receive the Disney Dining Plan Plus..
Terry Brown says
With the new dining plus plan, what happens with the signature restaurant that takes 2 table service credits?
Jose A says
Hey AJ, big follower, does new DDPlus include appetizer for TS’s meals?
Key decision factor IMO
Patricia Andrade Salgado says
I think that Disney should ha e a special dining plan for Annual pass holders. I think that we pretty much are the ones that consumer the most at the parks and restaurants, right? How about giving them a hint? Haha, love your work DFB.
Jessica says
Does the Dining Plan Plus include an appetizer at table service meals like the Deluxe Dining Plan does?
Linda Stoddard says
I just purchased the snack plan for an upcoming trip and the drink selection included beer/wine/cocktail. The information you’ve provided specifies soft drink. What’s going on?
Major says
Well this basically means that getting in at table services just got even harder since there are more table credits withing reach of more wallets.
Regardless, does everyone notice the part where its $6300 for a family of 4 to stay at Port Orleans for 5 days with this meal plan?!?! Then add in that you still need to pay out of pocket for a meal? And airfare? Wowzer!!
Jim Mutranowski says
Will the higher priced dining options still require multiple meal credits?
Ce says
Wonder if we’ll still be able to trade in a Quick Service meal credit for 3 snack credits. I hope they don’t eliminate that option!
Roxane says
We were there mid Dec. to celebrate my birthday. We had the Deluxe Dining Plan (only because the regular dining plan was offered free at that time & we only had to pay the upgrade difference). It was nice being able to go to a lot of the higher end restaurants & eat some great food, but youzer it was ALOT of food when you get an appetizer & dessert included in it. We didn’t want to waste food so we just got 1 of each for both of us to share & it still was too much.
We also were allowed to get free alcoholic drinks which was very nice. Not sure if this new plan allows all these options, but nice to see they have come up with another option for people to choose from.
But anyways you cut it ~ Disney is not a cheap place to go.
Donna says
Any idea when or if we will get free dining this year? We are booked in december
DFB Sarah says
Donna, Free Dining was announced in January. Here’s the post. There’s no way to know, yet, if they’ll announce a second round of Free Dining like they did in 2019, but if we see it, we’ll post!
DFB Sarah says
Linda, the Disney Dining Plans all include an alcoholic beverage for guests 21+ when there’s one offered on the menu.
DFB Sarah says
Terry, they’ll charge you for two meal credits, same as always. Since your credits will be flexible as TS or QS, it should be straightforward.
Nadia Bushnell says
Yyyeeeesssssss!!!!! This is PERFECT for my family! I am exited to eat at 2 Table Service restaurants at Epcot!!! Whooohooo!!!!
KJ says
Annual Passholders can get the dining plan. The biggest misconception people have is that the DP is connected to tickets. It’s not, it’s connected to the number of nights you stay in a Disney Resort. I doubt they will ever do a special plan for us, because they see it as we get discounts on dining.
Heather says
I just got off the phone with Disney Guest Services (waited 1 hour and 20 minute to speak with them) and they wouldn’t allow me to switch Dining Plans to the PLUS for our stay in June 2020. They said I would need to rebook my reservation!!!! That’s insane. I can’t rebook because there are no rooms available in our selected resort for the same dates! I don’t get it.
RG says
Important detail: Sadly existing Disney dining plan reservations cannot be upgraded to new dining plan plus without losing discounts made on the original booking. Unless your trip was booked at rack rate, your increased cost could be well above the cost difference between dining plan and dining plan plus…..
Robin says
I have current annual pass room and basic dining package and called to upgrade to the Disney dining plus plan and at this point they are not allowing pre existing pass holder packages to change to the Dining plus plan. Hopefully this will change in the future.
Cary says
What about the appetizer, dessert and alcoholic drinks some plan(s) include? Are those included in the new DDP?
KJ says
Heather… every time Disney releases a promo of some kind, each resort (if it participates) has a certain number of rooms set aside to be booked for that promo. When the quantity of rooms is booked up, that it’s it, there are no more rooms left. Hence why Free Dining books up so fast, it may be ready for booking at 7am Eastern when the phones open, and by 9am all the rooms for a resort are gone. So for example, let’s say Pop Century Resort has 2,000 rooms. Not all 2,000 rooms are set aside for Free Dining, maybe 300 are. (im just picking numbers to illustrate my point) So yes it is 100% possible there are no more rooms with a certain promo left for your travel dates.
Juan says
Look before you leap or call about changing your dining plan. Passholders and Florida residents need not apply if you take advantage of your Florida resident or Annual Passholder discount; you are not eligible for this dining plan. In other words, you must have a “rack rate” room to qualify for this Dining Plan Plus. Note Disney has not placed this restriction on their website or any of the plan’s features as a statement or inference. The practice also violates FTC unlawful advertising, many state and local ordinances. I found this out, waiting for 30 minutes on hold to speak to a representative who then apologized for my frustration.
Kevin Bokesch says
One of the only ways I see this as better than what already have is you pretty much have to eat sitdown for 2 meals… If you’re just going to eat a QS and a table, than pay less and go for the Regular Plan. Really good if want to do a sitdown breakfast and a sitdown dinner!
Jen Barker says
Our family is in a quandary about the dining plans. If the masks are no longer in use in August 2021 then we will be coming for a fortnight’s holiday and in the past have loved using the dining plan. The last time we took out the de luxe dining plan which was totally wonderful but was rather a lot of food to eat during the day. The dining plan plus could be the perfect choice and will enable us to try out some of the delicious snacks on offer for lunch, whilst enjoying one of the signature restaurants in the evening. We would be ecstatic if the dining plan is brought back and can only hope for the best. Am I too late to offer my sincere condolences and sympathy to you, A.J. on your father’s passing? He sounds an amazing person and without sounding too smarmy I hope has produced a pretty exceptional daughter so the legend lives on. (From your friends in England).
DFB Sarah says
Thank you for writing, Jen. Hopefully the DDP will return so you can use it again. 🙂
