The sun is shining, it’s a beautiful day and we’re hanging out on the West Coast for day one of the 2020 Disney California Adventure Food and Wine Festival in Disneyland Resort! Woohoo! The festival officially started up today and will run through April 21st.
But enough about the logistics, let’s talk about that festival FUN! Now, of course, the fest comes with all sorts of special events, seminars, and more; but we’re focusing on the food (shocker, we know). There are 16 Festival Marketplaces at this year’s festival and each one serves up a twist on California-inspired cuisine!
Well, you know us. We’ve tried EVERY SINGLE FOOD AND DRINK ITEM at the Festival. Call us crazy, but that’s the only way we can bring you our hot take on the best things to try at the festival so that you don’t waste your money or your appetite.

That’s right lads and ladies, we’re bringing you our official Disney California Adventure Food and Wine BEST of the FEST!!
BEST OF THE DCA FOOD AND WINE FEST!
Fiscalini White Cheddar Lager Soup from Nuts About Cheese
A returning fave from last year (in fact it’s the ONLY item from our 2019 Best of the Fest that made it back!), is the Fiscalini White Cheddar Lager Soup. This dish comes served in a Mini Boudin Sourdough Bowl and is available at Nuts About Cheese for $6.75.
Look, melty cheese is basically our kryptonite so you can’t blame us for putting this cheesy bowl of bready goodness back on the list. I mean just look at it! The only bad thing about it is that it comes in a MINI bread bowl. We’ll take four, please.

Mickey-shaped Caramel-Peanut Milk Chocolate Macaron from Off the Cob
The Mickey-shaped Caramel-Peanut-Milk Chocolate Macaron was a total home run for us! It costs $6.50, and it was an absolute delight!
The crunchy peanuts and sweet caramel with the hard chocolate shell reminded us of one of our favorite candy bars! We’ll be getting this one again and AGAIN!
Farmstand Punch from Off the Cob
Off the Cob also had one of our favorite beverages — the Farmstand Punch! This drink is non-alcoholic costs $6. Not only is it super tasty, but visually-speaking, it totally reminds us of a gorgeous sunset! We wouldn’t mind seeing a spiked-version of this one available someday since the fruity flavors would marry well with a little rum in our humble opinion!

Pepperoni Pizza Egg Rolls from California Craft Brews
Salty, crispy snacks don’t come much tastier than these Pepperoni Pizza Egg Rolls! You get two for $7 and they’re served topped with shredded parmesan cheese! Be still, OUR HEARTS! The marinara and pesto sauces that come on the side are also super yummy for dunking! Be ready for seconds, especially if you’re enjoying them with a nice craft beer!

Pabana Cream Puff with Mango, Passion Fruit, and Banana Mousse from One in a Melon
One in a Melon is a brand new booth at Disney California Adventure’s Food and Wine Festival! We like to rake the newbies over the coals, but One in a Melon’s flavors stood up to our extra scrutiny! The Pabana Cream Puff with Mango, Passion Fruit, and Banana Mousse for $5.50 was so tropically delicious. All of the different textures blended together sooo well and the filling was so rich and creamy!
We ate EVERYTHING at One in A Melon! See our review of the NEW One in a Melon booth HERE!
Carbonara Garlic Mac and Cheese with Nueske’s Bacon from Garlic Kissed
We’re not ones to shy away from garlic, pasta, cheese, and BACON!! In fact, those four little words are like sweet music to our ears! Garlic Kissed’s Carbonara Garlic Mac & Cheese with Nueske’s Bacon for $8 is the real DEAL.
Even the panko bread crumbs that are generously sprinkled on top are packed with TONS of flavor. Do yourself and favor and get this pile of cheesy, bacon-y awesomeness! Trust us — you’ll be glad you did!

Brunch Fried Chicken & Waffle Sandwich from Golden Dreams
When we found out Golden Dreams had completely redone its menu for the 2020 Food and Wine Festival, we were really looking forward to getting our hands on the Brunch Fried Chicken & Waffle Sandwich!
This little beauty costs $8 and comes topped with a citrusy Mimosa-inspired Slaw and OJ Bubbles! Yes, please!! The coating of the chicken was a little spicy and had a really nice crunch! The waffle was a little more on savory side to balance out the sweetness from the boba pearls. All in all, we really enjoyed the complexity of this dish!

Smoked Bacon Barbecue Beef Loco Moco on Rice from LA Style
LA Style’s stand-out offering this year is their new Smoked Bacon Barbecue Beef Loco Moco on Rice! For $7.50, you’ll get a generous amount of tender meat that is seasoned nicely. The textures of the bed of rice, bacon, and chopped pieces of hardboiled egg were also super fun and interesting!
Monkey Bread with Caramel Whiskey Glaze and Candied Pecans from LA Style
Three words, DFB friends: Spiked Monkey BREAD! That’s right — LA Style’s Monkey Bread with Caramel Whiskey Glaze and Candied Pecans actually contains trace amounts of alcohol! And while we didn’t detect the booze through all the sweet richness of all that caramel and yummy pieces of candied pecans, it was a sheer joy to pull apart and devour! Get this one for $6!

Oikos Greek Yogurt Banoffee Tart from Nuts About Cheese
It was love at first BITE when we dug into the Oikos Greek Yogurt Banoffee Tart for $6.25! The flavors and consistency almost reminded us of a thicker banana pudding crossed with a banana cream pie! And while the dessert was relatively light and refreshing, the caramel really sent this one over the top for us!

Honorable Mention
Impossible Cheeseburger Mac & Cheese from Nuts About Cheese
Here at DFB, we consider ourselves to be cheese-atarians, and we gotta give props where props are due! Nuts About Cheese’s new Impossible Cheeseburger Mac & Cheese has definitely earned an honorable mention on our Best of the Fest this year!
It comes topped with plenty of thousand island dressing, mustard, and pickles which you can stir into all that cheese! For $8, it’s totally worthy of a Sip & Savor tab! Think of this one as the vegetarian cousin of Garlic Kissed’s mac & cheese!

Cluck-A-Doodle-Moo
Cluck-A-Doodle-Moo is no stranger to our Best of the Fest List! We’ve been bestowing this booth’s sliders and wings with our highest honors for years now! This year, they’ve switched up their flavor profiles a bit with their selection of Ranch Fried Chicken Wings with a Buffalo Hot Sauce Drizzle for $8 and an updated version of their signature Beef Tenderloin Slider for $8.50 featuring a new sauce and caramelized onions.
Both of these savory dishes along with the new Chocolate Hazelnut Crunch dessert for $6.50 were totally awesome. Were these new dishes better than their previous sliders and wings? Tough to say, but Cluck-A-Doodle-Moo is still one of our favorite booths to hit up at the fest!

Avocado Time
Avocado Time also really impressed us this year! Granted, our Petite Impossible Burger with Guac and Pepper Jack for $8 was a little tough and a bit too thick for our liking, but the amount of flavor they were able to pack into the little slider was pretty remarkable!
And we thought the Tortilla-crusted Fried Guacamole with Carne Asada for $8.25 would definitely be a festival-repeat for us! The carne asada was juicy and flavorful while the crust of the fried guacamole was our favorite element!
