Spring is here so we’re filling up on all the yummiest eats at Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival. Well, who are we kidding? ALL the eats are pretty darn yummy!
The best part of any Epcot festival is that we get to eat our way around the World Showcase and that means a whole WORLD of new flavors to try. All the Outdoor Kitchens at Flower and Garden have menus that speak to fresh ingredients and springtime flavors but we’re especially excited to get a taste of the flavors at the Italy Pavilion booth. That’s right, we’re reviewing the Primavera Kitchen!
Food
The menu at Primavera Kitchen is full of twists on Italian classics (oh, and WINE), and we can’t wait to get a taste of them all!
First up, we tried the new La Regina “Margherita” for $7.00.
This dish is a Rustic Italian Flatbread topped with vine-ripened tomatoes, whole-milk mozzarella, parmesan, and basil. How classic! The cheese is a bit stronger than you may expect, but sadly, the rest of the flavors kind of fell flat.
And did you really think we’d go to Italy without trying some pasta? The next dish is the Grilled Chicken Ravioli with spring vegetables and creamy pesto sauce for $9.00. A REALLY good use of a Dining Plan Snack Credit if you have one and are looking to get some bang for your buck.
We were hoping for a bit more richness with the ravioli! But the veggies were a really nice and fresh touch.
And there is one dish that’s returning this year (hint: it’s the sweetest one). Check out the Zeppole! This snack is ricotta cheese fritters topped with powdered sugar and chocolate-hazelnut drizzle with a side of raspberry sauce.
No surprise here, but cheese wrapped in dough is ridiculously delish. Soft on the inside but crunchy on the outside and not overly sweet – the perfect balance if you ask us! Try it for yourself for $7.00.
Beverages
And what, exactly, will you be drinking while you fill up on Italian goodies? Well, beer drinkers have the option of a pretty light Italian brew called the Peroni Nastro Azzurro Pilsner for $5.50.
And it wouldn’t be Italy without wine! This booth has five vino options: a Pinot Grigio from Santa Marina, a Gabbiano Chianti, a Prosecco from Villa Sandi, a Montegrande Corbinello, and the Fior d’Arancio Montegrande Moscato. These range in price from $9.00-$10.00.
Plus there are two specialty beverages that are both returning favorites from last year. The first is the classic Bellini made with sparkling wine and Peach Purée for $10.00.
This beverage was refreshing but we wish it was served colder — on a hot sunny afternoon in Central Florida, you need something to cool you down! You may have better luck and will be served one that’s had a bit more time to cool off.
And the other is the Frozen Italian Margarita. This blend of Limoncello and Tequila is delightful and STRONG. This drink is always a hit for us though and this year is no exception! Try it for yourself for $10.00.
You heard it here folks, it’s a bella notte at Primavera Kitchen so hop in a gondola and get over there!
