The last few weeks have brought about tremendous change to the theme park industry in Orlando. Universal Studios in Orlando and Hollywood, in addition to Disney World, temporarily closed their gates with the safety of their employees and guests in mind.
Universal Orlando Resort has recently taken further steps to extend this temporary closure out of an abundance of caution.
Universal Studios in Orlando and Hollywood closed temporarily on March 15, 2020. At that time, Universal said they would remain closed through the end of March. We now know that Universal’s temporary closure will continue longer than originally anticipated.
Universal Studios in Orlando and Hollywood have EXTENDED their closure and will now remain closed through April 19, 2020.
This closure also applies to CityWalk and Universal Orlando’s hotels. The announcement includes the note that they will “make adjustments as needed.” Universal Orlando will also be automatically extending Annual Passes and Seasonal Passes by the number of days the parks are closed. Customers that use FlexPay will have monthly payments postponed from March 25th until further notice.

CeCe says
As I stated in the WDW closure comments, please anticipate that closures will continue through May. The best way to guess when this will end is by following the CDC and WHO updates on their guidelines for large group gatherings. In the hospital where I work, they are saying the virus won’t start to level off until August if we are lucky. Even if the parks are open, you will risk re-infecting the population and cases will spike again if large crowds gather too soon. If I had a summer vacation planned, I would move it until next year. If everyone tries to re-book for the Fall/Winter, it will be unbearably crowded with everyone else trying to re-book their vacations in the last few months of the year with those who already had vacations booked before the closures. Keep your families safe and enjoy Orlando another time.
