There are LOTS of hotel rooms in Disney World…as in more than 36,000 hotel rooms. Yowza. And yes, some of those are better than others.

Some of the Disney World resorts sport some pretty crazy rooms. Ever seen those Bungalows at the Polynesian? Yeah, those cost about $3 grand PER NIGHT, sometimes more. There are some hotel rooms though that are actually worth the price of the upgrade. Let’s take a tour and we’ll tell you why!

(Remember, room rates at Disney vary with the season, so you’ll most likely see a range or approximation for the room rate for each category.)

Hotel Rooms with Appeal for Kids

Disney World is probably one of the best places to take little ones on vacation, but hanging out in a traditional hotel room is BOR-ING, Mom and Dad. Luckily, Disney offers a few room varieties that are totally suited to kiddos — whether it be through theming or function — and still comfortable for the grown-ups!

Pirate Rooms at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

Caribbean Beach Resort offers super cool themed Pirate Rooms. Um…who DOESN’T love pirates? This is a great choice if you’re looking for a room to really wow your kids. The rooms feature pirate-themed decor AND pirate ship beds! There are treasure chests and a Jolly Roger curtain! We’re grown adults, and that even sounds exciting to us!

You can usually stay in a Caribbean Beach Pirate Room for around $400 per night.

Royal Rooms at Port Orleans Riverside

Or maybe your little ones are more the royal type. If you’ve got some princes and princesses in the mix, you may want to check-in to a Royal Room at Port Orleans Riverside. Like the Pirate Rooms, this is a pretty small and (slightly) more affordable upgrade that can make a big difference in having your little guy or gal really feel royal. Maybe take them by Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique to give them the full royal treatment (when it reopens)!

You can usually stay in a Port Orleans Riverside Royal Room for around $400 per night.

Family Suites at Art of Animation

For rooms that put the “fun” in functional, check out the Family Suites at Art of Animation. These rooms are built to accommodate families AND please kids with some clever theming. They’ll comfortably accommodate up to six guests (They have TWO BATHROOMS, PEOPLE!!! AND a master bedroom with a DOOR you can CLOSE!) and you can stay in a room inspired by Cars, The Lion King, or Finding Nemo. If you’ve got a large group, this is a really great option.

You can usually stay in a Family Suite at Art of Animation for between $400 and $750 per night.

Hotel Rooms with Exceptional Views

Maybe you’re go-to when picking out a hotel room is finding that room with a perfect view. Well, Disney has you covered with some pretty exceptional views around the property. Here are the ones that we think are worth it!

Savanna View at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

You really can’t beat the Savanna View Rooms at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. These rooms face the savanna so that you can watch the animals whenever you want! You never know who might swing by your window. If you’re an animal lover or have kids who can’t get enough of zebras or giraffes, Savanna Rooms are UNBEATABLE.

You can usually stay in a Savanna View Room for between $500 and $900 per night depending on the season.

Theme Park View at Contemporary, Polynesian, or Grand Floridian Resorts

The Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian Resorts have a unique offering of Theme Park View Rooms. That’s right, you can actually look out across Magic Kingdom from your hotel window. How neat is that? These resorts are higher-end so the rooms are on the pricier side, but being able to wake up to a view of the Disney parks — or see the fireworks around the castle from your room at night — is something that might just be worth the price tag.

You can usually stay at a Theme Park View Room at the Contemporary, Polynesian, or Grand Floridian for between $650 and $1,300 per night.

Nature Fireworks View at Wilderness Lodge

Wilderness Lodge has a special view, too! There are many Nature View Rooms at this hotel, but you can also take the upgrade for Nature Fireworks View Rooms! You won’t be able to see the theme park from your window with this one, but you will get a partial view of the fireworks every night. This is a better option for if you’re hoping for a Disney view without the super high price tag.

You can usually stay in a Wilderness Lodge Nature Fireworks View Room for between $500 and $750 per night.

Hotel Rooms with Exceptional Space

If you have a group with an eye for really cool design or you’re just looking for a little more space, we’ve found some rooms that might be of interest. Careful though, these are EXPENSIVE. Still, in the right circumstances, they make dropping top dollar pretty worth it.

Treehouses at Saratoga Springs

Yes, there are TREEHOUSES in Disney World, and you can stay in them! The Treehouses at Saratoga Springs are a cherished part of Disney history since the originals were built back in 1975, just a few years after Magic Kingdom opened.

These have three bedrooms, a kitchen, and a living room, and sleep up to 9 people. Now, these aren’t great for your average trip thanks to the price tag; but if you want to have a truly spacious situation if you’ve got a big family gathering, then they’re worth the price.

You can usually stay in the Saratoga Springs Treehouses for between $1,000 and $1,700 per night.

The Cabins at Fort Wilderness

Another surprisingly affordable option for big groups are The Cabins at Fort Wilderness. You can stay in ACTUAL log cabins on Disney property! These have a LOT of space, including a full kitchen and living room (with a pull out bed), and a bedroom with a queen bed and bunk beds for young ones. Plus, you’re staying at Fort Wilderness, which has some of the best resort activities around.

You can usually stay in The Cabins at Fort Wilderness for between $400 and $700 per night.

Disney Vacation Club 2-Bedroom Villas at Old Key West Resort

Disney World has a lot (with more on the way) of Disney Vacation Club Villas. Disney Vacation Club is Disney’s timeshare program, and villas range from studios (which look a lot like regular hotel rooms) to massive 3-bedroom villas and grand villas.

The 2-Bedroom Villas at Old Key West Resort are GREAT if you have a larger family or if you’re traveling with multiple adults. Seriously, they’re nicer than a lot of apartments! Plus they’re pretty darn inexpensive compared to other Disney suites! Here, you’ll get two full bedrooms with bathrooms, a huge kitchen, laundry facilities in-house, and a large living room. Because the OKW villas were built before other Disney Vacation Club properties, the rooms are much larger, so you get a lot more for your money.

And even if you’re not a DVC member, you can still book these rooms — just like regular hotel rooms!

You can usually stay in a 2-Bedroom Villa at Old Key West for between $500 and $900 per night.

Hotel Rooms with Exceptional Location

There’s definitely a case to be made about hotel rooms with a truly exceptional location too! Sometimes that means they give you better access to the main building or the pool. Sometimes it means that your favorite Disney park is just a quick walk away.

Preferred Rooms at Various Resorts

First up we want to give a quick mention of Preferred Rooms. You’ll find these at various resorts around Disney property. Now, what “preferred” means is that you’ll be able to choose your room location so that you can be in a room that’s closer to where you want to be (whether that’s the bus stop, lobby, or pool). Some people even opt for preferred to make sure they’re in the best-themed building for their kiddos like at Art of Animation.

Preferred Rooms are usually available at larger, more spread out Disney Resorts like the All-Stars or Art of Animation. Typically, it is an up charge of $20+ per night to opt for the preferred.

Standard View at any Monorail Resorts

Sometimes, it’s not the room that has a good location, it’s the resort itself! For these next few suggestions, it doesn’t matter what room category you choose! Disney’s Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian Resorts give you easy access to Magic Kingdom and Epcot via the monorail. You can even WALK to Magic Kingdom from the Contemporary Resort!

The least expensive rooms at the Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian usually have rates between $400 and $900 per night.

Standard View at any Epcot Resorts

Similarly, the Boardwalk Inn and Yacht and Beach Club Resorts as well as the Swan and Dolphin Resorts back RIGHT up to Epcot, so it’s super easy to access the World Showcase with just a few steps from your room! Plus, these resorts give you two easy ways to get to Disney’s Hollywood Studios — the Skyliner at EPCOT’s International Gateway entrance, or a 20 minute walk!

The least expensive rooms at the Boardwalk Inn and Yacht and Beach Club usually have rates between $400 and $800 per night.

Standard View at any Skyliner Resorts

Speaking of the Skyliner, the new Disney Skyway puts another set of resorts in that easy-park-access category. So, we definitely think a stay at Disney’s Caribbean Beach, Art of Animation, and Pop Century Resorts is a lot more interesting now! We’re not counting Riviera Resort, because the high price tag is still something you might need to wrestle with when you could stay at a much more inexpensive resort with Skyliner access.

The least expensive rooms at Caribbean Beach, Art of Animation, and Pop Century usually have rates between $100 and $400 per night.
