If you follow along here at DFB, you know we like to have a good time, we love food, and we LOVE Disney.
We are some of the biggest Disney fans out there, but we can’t help but think there are some things that Disney fans are thinking but no one will fess up and say. We thought we’d get some of these thoughts out in the open now. Take a deep, calming breath and say it with us: SOLIDARITY!
On Disney Food…
Why don’t they sell Runts or Tart n Tinys or M&M’S in those little acrylic boxes anymore? Those things were rad.
Disney used to sell little clear boxes or tubes of different candies (usually with Disney characters printed on top!) that we are certain tasted better than the ones at home. 😉
After we chowed down all the candy in the first 10 minutes of the car ride or flight home, we would use the box to store our trinkets and remember our Disney vacay. Ahh how we miss you little boxes.
This always felt like a more unique way to sell pre-packaged candy than the more blah bags sold in most gift shops now. (Thanks Carl S. for the pics!!)
IMPORTANT UPDATE! It seems like we’re not the only ones who missed this snack! Disney has sort-of brought these beauties back as part of the 50th Anniversary with these adorable plastic containers filled with rock candy!
YES. YES. YES.
You can imagine how thrilled we were when we saw these in the parks. Now, we just need them to be permanently brought back beyond the 50th Anniversary-specific designs!

Stop calling them verrines. Nobody knows what that means.
A few years ago, if you tried to grab a dessert at most fast-food type spots in Hollywood Studios you might have noticed a…unique trend. Verrines.
What IS a verrine, exactly? It’s a layered dessert in a cup. It’s an individual parfait. A trifle. It might have a whipped cream, mousse, or pudding base with a variety of hunks of other stuff (like those ubiquitous crispy pearls or popping pearls) to give it some texture. For a while, it was not hard to stumble past a verrine in Hollywood Studios if you wanted to try one. They seemed to be EVERYWHERE!
The trend seems to have died down a bit, but you can still find some verrines in the parks here and there.
There’s nothing inherently WRONG with verrines (we actually enjoy most of them!), and we’re sure they’re fast and cheap to produce and keep well. So we get it. But seriously, did anyone know what it was when they first saw it on the menu? We know that “parfait” doesn’t necessarily mean an individual serving (“verrine” does), but we bet a lot more people will know what the sam hill you’re talking about if you call them parfaits instead of verrines. No need to be grandiloquent with your theme park dessert names. They just need to taste good and be worth the money.
Will the verrine trend strike again in Hollywood Studios in the future? Only time will tell.

Why did they get rid of Sweet Spells in Hollywood Studios??
Speaking of sweet treats, uhhh, what does a Disney fan have to do to get a caramel apple in Hollywood Studios?
Sweet Spells used to be our go-to spot for all our favorite candy, fudge, and specialty apples. But alas, it’s gone — but not forgotten. Why ya gotta do us like that Disney? Give us SOMEWHERE in Hollywood Studios to get freshly made candy and treats!
Pre-packaged treats are typically available now at Beverly Sunset Boutique, but it’s not the same. Plus, you may find that this store is temporarily closed during your visit due to supply issues, making it even harder to get the treats you’re after.
Even when you can find a caramel apple in the parks, you may find they’re a bit…difficult…to eat right now. Click here to see more!
We get “space food,” but why is there so much not-yummy food in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge?
Okay, hear us out. We love a good Ronto Wrap, buuuut with some of the things we’ve seen in the past, like the interesting breakfast options that once existed at the Milk Stand, things are getting iffy. First, they morph chicken into a rectangular log and then we ate green yogurt that tasted like the already questionable green milk?
Much of the food leaves us a bit wanting (lookin’ at you, Happabore Sampler!) but we gotta give props for really going for it.
We will admit, soooome of the new snacks that have arrived in Galaxy’s Edge more recently have been delicious, but again they’ve generally been in Ronto Wrap-inspired form. The plant-based Zuchii Wrap at lunch and the Triple Suns Breakfast Wrap are both WINS in our book.
We also really enjoyed the Andoan Fruit with Muja Sauce and the Kyryll Pork Rinds! But all of these are found over at Ronto Roasters. We’d love more delicious snacks spread throughout the remaining dining spots in the land.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disneyland recently got some seriously tasty treats as part of the Life Day celebrations over there. Why can’t we get some of that love over in Disney World?! We can only hope to see more unique but yummy treats appear in Galaxy’s Edge in the future.
Click here to see what we thought of Green and Blue Milk in Galaxy’s Edge!
The cinnamon rolls at Gaston’s Tavern are not as good as they were at Main Street Bakery.
We are still chasing the joy of diving into a Main Street Bakery Cinnamon Roll back in the day.
They have since supposedly moved to Gaston’s Tavern in Fantasyland. Both versions are big as your face and covered in warm cream cheese frosting, but we just remember the Main Street versions tasting even BETTER. Maybe it’s just that we don’t get to stare at the front of the castle while we eat it, but Gaston’s rolls seem to hit different, you know?
Now, don’t get us wrong. We love a good cinnamon roll from Gaston’s Tavern, especially when ordered with EXTRA FROSTING. But we still miss the Main Street Bakery’s version.
Maybe it’s just those rose-colored glasses of our nostalgic past. Let us know what YOU think in the comments!
Click here to see our comparison of the 2 cinnamon rolls!
Why can’t Disney World have more soup in bread bowls?!
Here’s one we can’t figure out…why are we not seeing more hollowed out loaves filled with soup and mac and cheese like we do in Disneyland??
Disneyland has been filling up bread bowls with whatever they can find (and we’ll give them credit here — they DO have their own sourdough bread bakery IN Disney California Adventure Park that you can tour!), so how about we bring some of that bakery innovation over to the East Coast?!
You’ve done it before and you can do it again! Thankfully, it seems Disney has gotten a BIT of a hint about this and introduced some bread bowls back into Disney World. We’ve recently gotten cheese fondue in a bread bowl at the Bavaria Holiday Kitchen during EPCOT’s International Festival of the Holidays (this is a dish that we’ve seen at the festival before too).
We’ve also grabbed some soups and cheeeese in bread bowls at Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie in EPCOT’s France pavilion, and had Brie in a bread bowl at the France booth during the Festival of the Arts.
Disney also introduced a Haunted Mansion-themed bread bowl as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations over at Columbia Harbor House.
Still, we’d like more permanent, year-round, easily accessible bread bowl options, please and thank you.
Click here to see how Disney makes their iconic bread bowls!
Blue Curacao doesn’t need to be a cocktail staple.
There. We said it. Somehow this stuff ends up in everything. The SnowTini, the Kakamora Float, the Arendelle Aqua drinks — the list goes on. We love the color blue as much as the next person, but not all of our drinks need to bear the striking hue!
We don’t mind it in some things, but we see this syrup popping up constantly in Disney drinks. The problem is it typically makes otherwise good drinks or snacks overly sweet. Maybe show a little restraint with dousing everything with the blue stuff? There have been Disney drinks that are blue that DON’T have curacao…made with more innovative and natural recipes. So…just a thought.
Check out the food trends we would LOVE to see in the Disney parks here!
We want McDonald’s back in the parks!
We know we’re gonna get hate mail on this one! And again, maybe it’s just us looking back fondly on the Disney World of our youths. You know we love some Disney fries, but even with all the different toppings and options available — we can’t fight this feeling anymore.
McDonald’s used to have a respectable presence in the parks from 1997-2008! You could get McD’s fries at a location in each of the theme parks (you could even get Happy Meals at Restaurantosaurus!). Those crispy fries seem to hit the spot most days, but we’re pretty sure they had a little EXTRA magic sprinkled on them in the parks — we STILL crave them!

On Disney Characters…
Fancy Nancy is SUPER scary.
You have to see this one to understand. Feast your eyes on: FANCY NANCY.
She’s a Disney Junior character that haunts our dreams. We know from experience kids do LOVE meeting or seeing her, but for us adults she can be a little off-putting. We even ate breakfast with her and she was a delight, but there’s still something about her that keeps us up at night.
Click here to see more of our breakfast with Fancy Nancy in Hollywood Studios!
Belle deserved a better color trend.
Aurora got her Briar Rose Gold, Anna and Elsa got Arendelle Aqua, and Belle got…BROWN. Technically it was called “Belle of the Ball Bronze” buuuut, tbh, it was just brown.
Not a speck of yellow or red roses in sight. So we aren’t sure if Disney was loving the alliteration of Belle and Bronze or if they were looking to perfectly match her hair. If that was the case: YA NAILED IT!
To celebrate Beauty and the Beast‘s 30th anniversary, Disney released a number of awesome items themed to Belle and the movie overall. THANK GOODNESS.
But still, we think Belle deserved better with her color trend.

New Goofy looks like a hobo.
Don’t believe us? Case in point:
Or this:
Hear us out, Goofy is straight-up lovable and adorable. The OG GOOFY. This guy:
But the version of him from the new style of Mickey shorts?
Yikes.
Click here to see our first look at Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway!
We want to meet ridiculously rare characters like the Baby Oysters from Alice in Wonderland or the Dancing Mushrooms from Fantasia!
Alice, we love you, but you better believe we would be the first to line up to see some more “rare” characters.
Doesn’t anyone else want their picture taken with a Baby Oyster? Or Cogsworth? We love meeting the current characters, but there are so many more unique and rare ones we NEED the chance to meet!
Click here to see what character meet-and-greets have returned to Disney World.
On Disney Technology…
For how much our vacation depends on My Disney Experience, the app still has lots of issues… .
We still wake up in the middle of the night with cold sweats thinking about the time we found a Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Individual Attraction Selection (pay-per-ride) that was at that perfect return time…only to see the time change seconds later or experience other complications on the My Disney Experience app.
With the introduction of Disney Genie+ and Individual Attraction Selection (pay-per-ride), coupled with all of the OTHER reasons why you need to use My Disney Experience right now (to get a virtual queue spot, make mobile orders, make dining reservations, check walk-up waitlist availability, use mobile merchandise checkout, use mobile dine check-in, check-in for your hotel stay, etc.) it can be really frustrating when things with the app go wrong.
The app and website are GREAT for so many things, but they can also experience a number of problems. We’ve been well into the “enter your credit card info” stage of scoring a great dining reservation many times only to get one of the dreaded screens saying something went wrong! We back up to the reservation page and — GONE! We know the app works hard, and we APPRECIATE having it, believe us. But…sigh…it’s a struggle sometimes.
Click here to see what happens when the Disney World app goes down.
The Wi-Fi in the parks can be…rough.
Speaking of the My Disney Experience app, ever noticed when using it in the parks you might find yourself frustratedly switching off wi-fi on your phone and relying on your precious data plan instead? Happens to us ALL THE TIME.
Disney World provides complimentary wi-fi, which is GLORIOUS; but it can definitely get jammed up. It can be slow and unreliable, and sometimes it just doesn’t work at all. Again, there’s likely nowhere else in the world where people are using their phones and wi-fi this much…and that location offers FREE WI-FI. It’s awesome that Disney is doing this. But we know that Disney is a true innovator…so we’re hoping they can find a way to get that wi-fi workin’ a little bit better.
Click here to see 10 problems you’ll have to solve in Disney World right now.
On Attractions…
Bring back Aladdin’s Royal Caravan parade from the 90s.
This thing was epic. The camels, the massive Genie, the MUSIC.
The parade at Hollywood Studios and Disneyland may seem random now, but we grew to love it. Plus, we REALLY miss having a parade at Hollywood Studios to look forward to.
Small motorcades are currently being offered in Hollywood Studios, but they’re not quite the same as this elaborate exciting parade!
The Festival of Fantasy Parade is BACK in Disney World — see more details here!
Or hey, how about bringing back Spectromagic or another nighttime parade?! Make our eyes BURN with lights!!
Speaking of parades, we REALLY miss having a nighttime parade in Magic Kingdom.
We had to say goodbye to the Main Street Electrical Parade AND Spectromagic in Magic Kingdom over the last few decades, and there’s still a lightbulb shaped hole in our hearts since they’ve been gone. What would it take to get Magic Kingdom one itty bitty night time parade again? Please? Pretty please?!
The Main Street Electrical Parade has returned to Disneyland, so maybe that’s not in the cards for Disney World right now. But we’ll take, oh I don’t know, the amazing and wonderful Paint the Night parade? GIVE US SOMETHING!
At least we’ve got these gorgeous Spaceship Earth lights now.
Do people really love Avatar that much?
Not to fear, Avatar fans! We are super thankful for the Valley of Mo’ara and all of the amazing things it brought to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Now we have Flight of Passage, Night Blossoms, and some really unique eats.
But when we first heard about Disney building the land, we thought to ourselves “Huh, I didn’t realize people loved Avatar that much… .” Yes it crushed in the box office (aaaaaaall the way back in 2009), but who would have guessed that meant a whole extra land in Disney World?!
Click here to read more about Pandora — The World of Avatar in Animal Kingdom!
You keep putting things from movies in the parks, but when are you going to make an original ride again, Disney?
You threw us a bone with Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway…
…but Disney parks are seeing more and more attractions (like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, TRON Lightcycle Run, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure) repurposed from films. The Disney Parks wouldn’t be what they are without unique rides like The Haunted Mansion and or Pirates of the Caribbean! We would love to see more of that original Disney magic!
Check out some of the Disney attractions that were never made here!
On Shopping
shopDisney needs to figure out how to better implement limited releases.
Yo shopDisney, you know your site is gonna be overloaded with traffic when you drop limited release items. So can we please improve things so we can throw our money at you for said items and go on our merry way?
Limited-edition items can often sell out in MINUTES (if not sooner), or you might find yourself stuck in a waiting room for a while, just staring at the screen until you’re able to shop. The Stitch Crashes Disney collections would often sell out SUPER quickly as well.
It shouldn’t be this hard to take our money!
Nobody needs to buy 10 of anything when released on shopDisney or in store. Knock that off!
Speaking of limited releases…please save some for the rest of us. We desperately want a set of Minnie Mouse ears too and we don’t want to buy them from someone off eBay for 10 times the price.
People have almost lost limbs trying to pick up items in Disney gift shops when limited releases are dropped (or they’ve waited in loooong lines only to find out many items are already sold out). We know it may just be us, but we don’t think any guest or Cast Member’s life is worth shoving, harassing, or snatching.
But Disney has done a better job of this recently by setting stricter limits on purchases. In August of 2021, we saw that many Disney items were restricted so that guests could only purchase 2 of each.
This continues to be in effect for many items in the parks, but there are still some items online that do not appear to have a purchase limit.
Only time will tell how long these types of limits will stick around.
Click here to see more about the stricter rule that was placed on merchandise purchases in Disney World.
We see that merch you’re cranking out in Tokyo. Let’s up the game stateside!
We know that Disney isn’t the true “owner” of Tokyo Disney Resort buuuuut can your people talk to their people about hookin’ us up with some of that MERCH!
They have the cutest headbands, keychains, purses, and Duffy galore! We’ve seen Oyster plushes from Alice in Wonderland, adorable Fantasia plushes galore, those CUTE hamburger Mickey ear plush purses, and so many other fun goodies. And don’t even get us started on the popcorn buckets. The stuff coming out of those parks is NEXT LEVEL merch. Hook. Us. Up.
Click here to get a glimpse of a popcorn bucket from Tokyo Disneyland that we NEED to come to the states A.S.A.P.
Thank you for embarking on this journey with us — and for being a safe space as we clear our heads. (Now, try to be nice, upstanding human beings in the comments. We’re havin’ a little fun here; y’all don’t need to take it that seriously.) Phew, we’re feelin’ better already! (But really, we still want a nighttime parade and Mickey hamburger purses, Disney!😉)

Elyssa says
I agree 100% on bringing in some original ride ideas! I’m tired of everything being tied to a film or character… especially in EPCOT. Guests will still flock to good rides even if they’re not movie themed (Soarin’, Test Track) I love ya Disney, but did you lose your originality?
Lisa says
Yes to all of this. Bring back McDs, a night time parade (Paint the Night is amazing), work out the ShopDisney glitches especially since everything is closed, and we definitely need some of the Tokyo merchandise here
ROY says
As to MDE as well as Wi-Fi having issues you have to remember that several years ago WDW IT department was outsourced. Many of the systems they use are older highly interfaced preventing them from upgrading to current better designed versions. While some of them serve well with the limited access required by cast members the others just cannot handle the greater demands of the guests.
Jessica Jones says
OMG! Yes! Hobo Goofy! I’m on the Disgeek Podcast & we had conversation about the new design of the fab 5 plus Dasiy *sensational 6 I think now. We ALL hate the new way they are drawn & we specifically said “Goofy looks like a hobo” it’s awful, why did these great characters need such DRASTIC re-designs? I love the music & cleverness of the new Mickey shorts, but the animation style is not desirable. It’s also why I can’t watch the new Duck Tales.
Dylan says
I agree and disagree, with the overall theme of staying original. Keep McDonald’s OUT of the parks, keep cranking out original eats. Disney needs to step up their original ride game. There will always be a place for IP rides, but there needs to be a balance with original ideas. Increase the original options for merchandise, don’t just keep slapping a different color on the same product…And there doesn’t have to be a nighttime parade at MK. Think how crowded it is before Happily Ever After…you’ll never get around/through Main Street or the Hub in the evening if there’s a nighttime parade and fireworks show.
DarLynn says
I agree with everything you said. I want one of those Mickey soap dispensers too.! Why does Tokyo get the cutest merchandise and the USA does not?
Donald L Andrews says
As I was reading this, I looked over and saw my collection of m&m’s in the plastic containers. One from Disney MGM Studios & the other one with m&m’s with a picture of Mickey on it. Both still full of candy. Also the Columbia Harbor House used to sell clam chowder in a bread bowl. Many years ago.
Robby says
Okay the Cinnamon roll situation is tragic at Magic Kingdom. I remember we’d have to buy several rounds of the Rolls at Gastons (not that long ago). We just went right before the RQ (‘Rona Quarantine) and we didn’t even finish them. Dry. Icing was okay. Did not seem fresh.
Julie Hayward says
You guys are RIGHT On for every point here, but especially Tokyo merchandise. Thanks for saying it all. Wish they would listen. Imagination and innovation die with Walt?
Amy M says
I noticed this Feb that EVERYTHING seemed to have boba pearls in it. For those of us who find them off putting, it seemed to limit the Festival of the Arts and Limited Edition offerings we could sample… I’m ok with a few boba offerings but it seemed like they were everywhere!
Julie says
Yes and thank you !
Sarah says
I agree with you on all points, especially Belle’s brown Minnie ears. A beautiful princess such as Belle deserves a beautiful color.
Marie says
Agree with most of them, ESPECIALLY the new animation style for Goofy and the gang. I absolutely hate it. I miss nighttime parades too but Dylan made a good point, MK is already so crowded at night. Maybe they should do a nighttime parade at DHS or DAK to spread the crowd around.
Disneygal says
Soap dispenser….LOVE TO HAVE THAT!!!!
Margaret D says
MICKEY SOAP DISPENSERS!!!!!!! YESSSSSS!!!!!!
Ron says
What ever happened to the tiny bone china miniatures that were sold at Disneyland? We have a Winnie the Pooh. It is about 2″ tall and excellent quality.
Dan says
Man, I may be speaking as a grumpy 45 year old man, but those new Mickey shorts are… Not Good. Very jarring compared to the clubhouse version of Mickey that my kids love.
Jana says
You won’t get hate mail from me about McDonald’s in the parks! I did the Disney College Program in 99 at Downtown Disney… err, Disney Springs. I used to go to McDonald’s through a cast entrance EVERY. SHIFT. I’d love to be able to reminisce on that, even though there is a McDonald’s near me at home!
Alicia says
I totally agree about the Main Attraction items. I had a set of ears in my cart and the system kept freezing and kicking me out. So frustrating when all you want to do is buy 1 pair for your daughter!
Deborah P says
We bought those Mickey Soap dispensers while at TDS and yes, it makes hand-washing so much better!
I want them here in the U.S. because eventually they are going to break and I will cry.
Blue Curacao is evil, btw. Pretty, but too sweet.
Laura says
We agree with everything you have mentioned. We want that soap and other mercy from Tokyo. I would love more original rides like you mentioned and if they could bring back the art of animation to Hollywood studios that would make my family very happy.
MissBianca says
Need. Mickey. Soap. Dispenser. Who do I know in Japan…
susan says
omgosh yes on the shopping!!!! Especially the Minnie releases and that Joe Rohde ear hat! Disney has to stop the Ebay bots from buying it all up.
Also WHY cant DisneyWorld have all the big yummy obnoxious Macarons that Disneyland Resort has?
Crissy Stout says
I agree with almost everything, but especially the Tokyo merch. Our merchandise is so lame most of the time. Also, what happened to the bread pudding muffin or something like that which was on Main Street roughly ten years ago? It would sell out by early afternoon, but disappeared once Main Street Bakery became Starbucks.
Tammy Orr says
I LOVED your article!! Very entertaining. Agree 💯!
Give us original Disney rides please!!!
Kristin Cooke says
I’m so glad I’m not the only one who remembers the Aladdin parade at The Studios. I worked there that summer and loved that parade! I also miss the nighttime MK parades. One other thing I miss that you didn’t mention is Starring Rolls at The Studios. I like Starbucks, but that was a great place to get breakfast and never super crowded.
Jenn says
Yes to so much if this! I’m so jealous over the Tokyo merch. I want Duffy and friends here in the US! In regard to the new Mickey shirts, my family loves the new animation style! In regard to food, I wish Disney didn’t add seasoning and garlic to everything. Some of us have digestive issues and allergies. Seasoning can be added easily for those who want it. It’s more difficult to request it be removed.
Zaundra Dickey says
Thank you!
Goofy is super scarey looking. I was watching new shorts with my grandson, Goofy needs a bath.and a shave. Oh, did y’all see the one where Mickey breaks down at the cemetery and zombie goofy? Yea!.It’s a thing.
DFB Thank you for.saying what I was thinking. I want some of that food from Shanghai Disney please. Oh and the Disney merch. Bring on the soap.
Jennifer Lucas says
I do miss McDonald’s fries in the parks! Paint the Night is my favorite nighttime parade ever, probably my favorite parade ever. I’ve seen someone selling Mickey shaped hand soap dispensers! They’re at https://imalittlesomething.com/
Adrienne says
I am not sure how she procured it, but my mother-in-law got us one of those Mickey soap dispensers for Christmas this year. It is awesome, and I just refill it with soap from Target. It makes hand washing so much better, especially when I tell my three-year-old it is time for a squirt of Mickey. Maybe she got it on EBay?
Sue Gold says
Please, no McDonald’s or Starbucks! I get tired of always seeing these two and am thankful that Disney has so many good eats without these two! I also agree with my fellow Disneyites that we need to have more original rides and not ones tied to a movie. I want to give all cast members a big hello and virtual hug! We miss you more than we can say. Stay healthy!
tavia says
Lol. I shouted out loud no they are not at the comment comparing cinnamon rolls. Tried Gastons a few times but still not impressed.
FRANCIS GALLO says
I agree with just about everything you said in this article. I too am pining for the Main Street Electrical parade or Spectromagic to return. Great parades. I would also like to see Magic Happens parade come to Walt Disney World. It’s wonderful as is the music. Nightime just isn’ t the same at Disney World without them. Original rides would be a HUGE plus as well. I would also like to see Disney really make use of Virtual Reality for the times that you really need a Disney fix and can’t get to the Parks. It would be great to don VR goggles and take a walk down Main Street USA or ride Splash Mountain without getting wet. It would be such a fun break from the daily grind and whet our appetites for the next time we can get to the Parks. C’mon, Disney, your Imagineers are awesome. You can do this.
JK says
Another vote for original rides here. C’mon Disney please come up w/ a ride that ISN’T tied to a movie!
Jamie says
I’m with you on pretty much everything but I’m sorry, I love me some Blue Curacao. I’m a huge sweet tooth and I love sweet drinks. Everything else though, you’re spot on. Especially poor Belle and her drab brown.
Deb says
Yes yes yes yes, I agree with all of the above. But most especially the parade situation!!! Nighttime parades, parades at HS, parades were quintessential Disney and they have been so reduced. Bring them back!!!
Jill says
I agree 100% with all of the above. The one that really enraged me when I think about it is sweet spells!! Still trying to understand the logic of that one. There was never not a line of people buying all of that yummy goodness. Bring back sweet spells with the ORIGINAL carrot cake cookie. We don’t need yet another spot to buy Pixar merchandise.
Kayla says
Great read. All I am going to say is…MCDONALDS FRIES!! My family loved grabbing these on the way out of MGM and Animal Kingdom. Perfect treat in between Mickey bar lunches and the (pool time) wait before dinner! It was like eating the best batch of fries mcdonalds they ever gave ya, but ya didn’t have to cross your fingers for. Also okay one more thing….avatar. Disney always knows what’s up but I sure didn’t see that one coming 🤔
Shelly says
I will now have the SpectroMagic song in my head all night. Bring that AND the Wishes fireworks show back and I will be one happy mama! It reminds me of taking my own kids there in 2005 and 2008. 🥰
Heather says
I miss Studio Backlot Tours and Osborne Family Lights.
I always hated the name change from MGM to Hollywood Studios…couldn’t adjust to referring to the new name…but with the drastic changes I do not want to disrespect the old park by calling the reinvented park MGM.
Also my Disney and shop Disney apps both suck all of the time. They’re pretty useless.
Lucia says
Yes!!! I hate the new Mickey animation. It’s so grotesque in my opinion. I know Disney isn’t meant for only kids. But can my inner child enjoy a pleasant looking Goofy, Mickey and pals and not a Ren and Stimpy looking character. I like my characters to be rated G not PG-14 please.
FRANCIS GALLO says
OMG, the new Disney animated cartoons are AWFUL with their facial features on one side of their faces half the time and bodies smaller than the clothes they wear and always screaming and acting out of control. It’s like some bad foreign copy of what a Disney cartoon is supposed to look like. The classic Disney animation is SOOOO much better and allows for more emotion and pleasing visuals for both children and children at heart. I just hate the new stuff and will not buy any merchandise that has that kind of animation on it. None of it says Disney to me, just Disney ripoff. Walt is spinning in his grave I’m sure. PLEASE DISNEY, IF IT AIN’T BROKE, DON’T FIX IT!!!!!
Heather says
Yes I agree with all of these points!! I miss Sweet Spells so much- I worked there on the College program and my heart aches seeing it gone. Yes, the new Goofy is creepy and a little McDonald’s makes life easier sometimes, especially with tired hungry kids!
Elizabeth says
Agree completely except please, NO McDonalds. I want things at Disney I can’t get at home, and McDonald’s is sooooo not rare. Space is at a premium, so don’t waste it on fast food! Give us something new and unique instead.
Donna says
I agree with the need for a MK nighttime parade and My vote is for the Electrical Parade. I went to Disneyland this summer and they had the parade. I was all by myself, but I found a spot on the pavement, sat down and had a smile on my face the whole parade! I love McD fries, but surely Disney could (sorta) re-create somewhere without having McD’s physically in the parks!? Work out a deal with them!?! Avatar is the absolute best ride in any of the parks! I learn so much reading the DFB info, THANK YOU AJ and your team!!
Kanike says
Remember when The Lion King first came out. They had The Lion King Parade at Disneyland – THAT WAS EPIC! The parades since then have not been as good since The Lion King!
Carl says
I have a picture of the little plastic boxes that candy came in. You asked for a picture. How do I get it to you? I don’t do social media.
DFB Sarah says
Carl, thanks! You can email us at [email protected].
Natalia says
I also hate the new designs of Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, etc.
They look like they’re on acid or something.
There was absolutely no need to do that. I’m dreading the day when all merch will have only the new design!
Robyn says
One of your best articles! Agree so much with this. I can’t even speak about the cinnamon roll situation. I still have a little candy box myself from one of my 1st trips to Disney World. I really think it may have started my life-long love of Disney.
