The current status of Disney Parks worldwide remains the same: they are all temporarily closed in light of the ongoing global health situation.
However, as we continue to research the potential reopening timelines for all Disney Parks and Disney destinations, one Resort in particular appears to have some potential for a re-opening in May 2020: Shanghai Disneyland.
According to the New York Times, “Shanghai Disneyland, closed since January, is expected to reopen its main gates to a limited number of visitors in the next two-to-three weeks.”
Additionally, social media is abuzz with the potential, including the tweet below from @gourmetdyy.

Over the past few weeks, Shanghai Disneyland has been preparing for a reopening and testing its fireworks show. And partial operations at Shanghai Disneyland resumed on March 9, 2020, as a limited number of experiences in Disneytown, Wishing Star Park, and the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel are operating in limited capacity.
However, we want to stress that there is no official or confirmed Walt Disney Company source at this time. The official Shanghai Disney Resort website still states that “Shanghai Disneyland remains temporarily closed until further notice.”
We are keeping a close eye on this developing story, and as we continue to do so, we’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, you can read more about the current closures impacting Disney Parks around the world by visiting any of the links below.
