Disney just announced a series of significant announcements that will have an impact on guests with 2020 arrivals. Already, we have heard about Disney’s plans to implement and advance reservation system for guests to access the parks.
With Disney World intent on opening in mid-July, Disney has needed to adjust to fit the new health and safety protocols in place, which have included the cancellation of dining reservations, Disney Dining Plan packages, suspending FastPass+ and canceling all FastPass+ reservations. We saw some suspicious activity on Disney’s website over the past 24 hours or so, and now we know why.
Disney has also announced that upon reopening, they will temporarily suspend Extra Magic Hours. There is no further information at this time for how long this suspension will last.
In a statement made on Disney Parks Blog, Disney stressed that these decisions reflect the “guidance from health authorities and appropriate government agencies.” This is a developing story and we will continue to provide updates as they are announced.

I am supposed to be going to Disney in the beginning of September. Hearing about all of these cancellations is sending my anxiety level through the roof. I’m almost certainly rescheduling for next year, as much as it pains me to say that.

I’m having a hard time with the reservation system as we like to go to two parks a day. Our trip isn’t until November so things could change by then, but what happens when we go to book our days in the parks and they are already booked? I don’t want to have to go to the same park for three days because that is the only park that has available reservations. I would like to hear more how this is going to work. Also – will the tickets be less expensive? I’m not making my final decision whether or not to keep my trip until the fall.

Kim, we would like to hear more about this as well — and when we do, we’ll update ASAP!
James says
Why would they cancel extended hours? Don’t they want to thin the crowd? Are the keeping the early morning events?
Amanda says
Maybe so they can have extra time to sanitize etc?
