The NBA has OFFICIALLY made an agreement with Disney World that it will resume its season on July 31st with a 22-team format!
While we know the playoffs are coming to Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports, there hasn’t been a definite answer regarding where the players will stay when the season begins after the parks’ grand re-opening.
According to a recent report from ESPN, NBA players will be “contained to three specific hotels within the Disney complex.” While there is no definitive statement about which resorts the players will be staying at, there IS information regarding how the players would be following health and safety protocols on Disney property.
The players will be tested every night and receive the results in the morning.
Players who test positive will be quarantined for a minimum of seven days. If a team is required to pull in another player from an inactive roster, the NBA would have that player quarantine for a week prior to joining practices and games.
While NBA and Disney have come to an agreement regarding the season, there are still plenty of details to work out surrounding how things will operate. But you know we’ll keep you updated!
Take a look at how the NBA was welcomed back in the most Disney way possible!

Hmmm. I wonder if these rooms were originally booked by families who saved and saved to go to Disney and were told that their dream vacation was cancelled because it wasn’t safe only to be given away to NBA players. Seems that it’s safe for NBA players but not for regular people? If that’s the case, not very nice Disney.

David, if it helps, there’s been no confirmation about where the NBA players will be staying. The word from ESPN is that they’re going to be confined to their hotels and the WWOS complex, and they’ll be tested for the virus daily. But we are still waiting for confirmed information from the NBA and/or Disney.

Thanks Sarah. It has no affect on me as I stay at the most awesome Fort Wilderness Campground but I am just thinking of all the families who were looking so forward to going, sometimes for years, being told it’s not safe while watching their rooms possibly be given away to another group who has more money. Like you said though, we don’t know if that is happening but if it is, in my opinion, that’s a little shady. So let’s hope that’s not the case. Thank you for answering me back though!!! Ps. I love the newsletters, and videos and your guides. So much depressing news everyday, it’s helps me. So thank you.
