Disney World just shared that their new Park Pass Reservation System will open to guests with existing reservations on June 22nd.
The Park Pass System will help manage park attendance for the foreseeable future as the Disney parks reopen with limited capacity caps in place (Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom will reopen on July 11th, and Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will reopen on July 15th). All guests will need a Park Pass reservation on top of their valid park entry to enter any Disney World theme park.
Let’s take a look at how this new system will work. Check out ALL the details and a TUTORIAL below!
Disney World Theme Park Pass Reservation System Details
The Park Pass System is an online tool to help guests with making their park reservations. Again, ALL GUESTS with a valid ticket for entry will also require an advance Park Pass reservation to enter the park. To enter a park, valid entry and a park reservation are required for the same park on the same date for each person in your group ages three and up.
Keep in mind that you are limited to one park per day with the reservation system at this time. Visiting more than one park per day will be temporarily unavailable during the reopening phase due to attendance limitations.
Note also that a separate reservation will be required for each day in a theme park. If you have a multi-day ticket, you will need a reservation for each day of your ticket.
Reservations are subject to availability and are NOT guaranteed until a reservation is finalized. Disney recommends that you make your theme park reservations as soon as you purchase your tickets, as availability is subject to change until your reservation is finalized.

Important Dates To Note
The Park Pass System will open to guests in phases.
Existing Ticket Holders
The following are the need-to-know dates for guests with existing hotel reservations, and current ticket holders:
- Disney Resort and other select hotel Guests with valid theme park admission can make reservations beginning June 22nd.
- Annual Passholders without an already-booked Resort Hotel stay can make reservations beginning June 26th.
- Existing ticket holders can make reservations beginning June 28th.
Note that if you booked a vacation package, your eligibility is tied to your travel dates. To make a theme park reservation for a different date, you’ll need to modify the dates on your vacation package.
At this time, reservations will be available through September 26th, 2021, based on your room reservation and ticket eligibility. If you have a room-only reservation but do not have valid tickets, call the Disney Reservation Center at (407) 939-1936 or your travel agent beginning June 24th to upgrade your package to one with tickets. You will then be able to make theme park reservations.
Those Booking a New Vacation
New hotel reservations and ticket sales are currently on hold, but new vacation bookings will open up again soon. On June 28th, all guests will be able to purchase new Disney Resort hotel packages and theme park tickets and make their park reservations for arrivals in 2021. Guests will be able to see theme park reservation availability BEFORE making ticket purchases.
For 2020 arrivals, new reservations and ticket sales will resume later this summer based on the availability of park reservations.
Tutorial
Now, let’s walk through the four-step Park Pass reservation process.
Step 1: Link your admission tickets to your Disney account.
You’ll need to make sure that your existing park admission is linked to your My Disney Experience (MDE) account. If you do not have an MDE account you will need to make one at DisneyWorld.com. Use your account dashboard and confirmation numbers to link your park admission ticket numbers (these are usually listed on the back of the ticket) and Disney Resort hotel reservation to your MDE account.
Make sure that each person in your party has their valid admission linked. Your tickets and hotel stays must be linked so that the Park Pass system recognizes your ticket eligibility.
Step 2: Create your party.
Similar to the process when you make a Fastpass+ or Advance Dining Reservations, you will need to specify your travel party. When you begin to make your reservation, you’ll be prompted to create a party from your Family & Friends list. If anyone is not listed on your Family & Friends list, you can “Add a Guest” to include them on the reservation. (Note that in order to include other adults on the reservation, they may need to have a My Disney Experience account that’s been linked as a “friend” or “family” to yours. You can set this up before you make your theme park reservation.)
Be sure to make profiles for kids in your group ages three and up as well. Parents can manage their children’s profiles via the My Disney Experience app or website.
Your reservation party must consist of valid admission holders. Depending on your admission type, you may need to make more than one Park Pass reservation for your party. If you are staying in a Disney Resort or other eligible hotel with a ticket package, you’ll need to make sure that everyone has a hotel reservation. If not, you will need to make different Park Pass reservations.
Step 3: Select a date and park.
After your party is selected, you will be prompted to specify the reservation date you’d like to visit based on availability. You’ll be able to choose a date via a calendar, choose a theme park, and choose a time for your visit.
Step 4: Review and confirm your plans.
Before finalizing your reservation, make sure that you carefully review your selected park and dates. From the confirmation page, you can select “Back” if you need to make any changes.
To confirm, you will need to agree to the Terms & Conditions, including the COVID-19 liability waiver. Then, select “Confirm” to complete your park reservation. Once confirmed, your reservations will be listed in “My Plans” on your MDE account.
From there, you can select “Make Another Reservation” to continue planning. If you need to cancel a reservation, you can view it in “My Plans” and select “Reservation Details.” Other than that, you’re finished! You’ve made a reservation for entry into the Disney theme parks.

Have questions about the new Park Pass system? Ask them in the comments!
Robin says
If I purchased the vacation package, resort and tickets, Direct from Disney, are they automatically linked in MDE?
Ana says
Where exactly do I access the Park pass reservation system? Is it a new component of magical experience app?
Breanne says
What about children that are under the age of 3?
Jolene says
Hey! If I reserve park tickets for my vacation and end up cancelling the vacation, will I lose my money or have a penalty of some sort?
Sean Maranda says
It sounds like we have to pick an arrival time? What happens if we miss our selected time? Will we still get in?
Jodi says
We are the beginning of November 2020, are we making reservations tomorrow, or is that just for people booked though September? So confusing lol
Christine says
Where do we go to start this reservation process? Know it’s in our MDE, but where in there do we go? I was also told by a cast member via chat that you can do this in a web browser as well as in the App directly. I just want to know where in there I have to go to so I can be prepared! Thank you!
Beverly M says
As you know, it’s ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to leave a park to go back to your resort midday to rest, especially when you’re vacationing with small children (and grandparents!). Will we be able to leave a park and reenter later on the day of our reservation for the same park? HELP!
ALSO, will the water parks be available on the reservation process? Without the park hopper, this will be a sad situation.
Disney is becoming less and less magical every day. :-<
Beverly from NJ (a quarantine state!)
Tina says
Love you DFB!! Thank you for all you do for us. Quick question. It’s Monday morning (early) time to make partk reservations. I’m on MDE where do I go from here?
DFB Sarah says
Tina, you’ll need to be on a web browser. Log into your account. Check My Plans or in a separate tab navigate here.
DFB Sarah says
Beverly, we did get confirmation in a chat with Disney yesterday that guests can come and go from the Parks. We will continue to seek written confirmation from Disney. Water parks are in limbo; they haven’t been listed as reopening, and there’s no further information about them.
DFB Sarah says
Christine, we believe it’s only on the web browser, but hopefully you’ve got to where you need to be! The reservations don’t appear to be open yet, but I’m thinking it’ll be in My Plans or on the Disney Park Pass page.
DFB Sarah says
Jodi, it’s you, too! As long as you have a Disney Resort and tickets confirmed.
DFB Sarah says
Sean, we await details on this. We’ll update.
Dawn says
I’ve been on the system since 07:00 a.m. it is now 09:03. I’m talking to people on FB Disney. One has gotten in and made reservations. No one else yet. She was on at 07:00?also. At the 1.5 hr she got through. You get the castle. You wait. Then you get an Orbiter with a countdown clock. It may add more time. Once you get in you start the process.
DFB Sarah says
Breanne, should be all set since they don’t need a ticket!
DFB Sarah says
Jolene, I think Disney’s standard cancellation time frames apply. See if this info from Disney helps.
DFB Sarah says
Ana, we’ve had luck on web browsers (phone and laptop), not in the app. Try clicking here.
DFB Sarah says
Robin, should be, but you’ll want to check.
Tina says
I got on but was only able to make reservations for 3 of my days and I have a 7 day reservation. I am an AP, so does this mean I can’t make reservations for the other 4 days, I have a hotel reservation?.
DFB Sarah says
Tina, did you click the calendar option and select Resort stay? I saw there are THREE options (Ticket Holder, AP, Resort Stay). And double-check your Resort stay is in your account? Those are the only things I can think of based on what I know and how wonky this morning has been.
DFB Sarah says
Dawn, that was our experience, too, I believe.
DFB Sarah says
Susan, you would not be able to Park Hop in the initial reopening, but Disney says it will maintain Park Hoppers as an option for the 2021 reservations. If it’s available by then, you could hop to EPCOT to eat. It all depends on what Disney decides about Park Hopping when the time rolls around.
DFB Sarah says
Marcia, we got through on web browsers.
Katherine Geleta says
If I need to change one member of my party (coming in late July) after making the reservation today, can I change it as it gets closer to the dates we arrive?
DFB Sarah says
Cindy, so far it looks like no, and Disney’s reopening Dining page has had no change so far on this. We will update!
DFB Sarah says
Katherine, I would grab what you need today, and then make changes when things settle a bit closer to your date. I’m not sure what the policy will be on this, but I think it’s best to get settled with what you need first.
Cynthia says
What do we do when our annual passes expires during the shutdown?
DFB Sarah says
Cynthia, here’s the page Disney created to answer AP questions. There are quite a few options and information about extensions, so hopefully they’ve covered what you need.
Denese says
What happens if you buy tickets and can’t get a reservation for say one of your days, do you get a refund on the ticket?
DFB Sarah says
Denese, you could cancel that ticket/get a refund. Right now I think refunds are right up until 24 hours ahead of a trip, but you’ll want to double check on that.
Helen Rendall says
Hi We have 2020 14 day disney tickets in hand. But have moved our disney off site stay to Aug 2021. My tickets are all linked in MDE as is my party. Will it let me do reservations on the 28th for Aug 2021?
DFB Sarah says
Helen, I think as long as you have the valid tickets linked (as you say), you should be able to reserve your Disney Park Pass.
PAM says
I have comp tickets all linked to MDE for my party. I do not have a resort stay. On the 28th, will I be able to book park passes for my group for January 11-15 2021? Does it open at 7am est?
DFB Sarah says
Pam, it’s open. I hope you were able to get your DPP!
Scott says
I got on this morning around 7:40 and bought tickets and made reservations for two separate weeks for Jan 2021 with no issues at all, I was expecting it to be an ordeal after hearing what’s been going on since the 23rd, it was almost too easy, did I miss some big headline news or something.?
DFB Sarah says
Scott, it sounds like a lot of folks had very good luck (or the system finally worked more smoothly) today!
Cristina says
Hi there. For AP holders, does the online reservation system allow you to reserve an additional park once you’ve used your first park reservation? In other words, we have 3 parks reserved and will be here for an entire week. Can we book a 4th park once we’ve visited our first?
DFB Sarah says
Cristina, yes, it’s supposed to allow that now.
Kirsty says
I had problems with the new park reservation system. My trip has been pushed back until July 2021 due to the virus ( Australia won’t allow citizens to leave the country at the moment). Although I had my reseevation linked in my account, it took me a few goes to realise that the silly system was opening thr calendar on the first dates in 2020. I had expected that if it knows my hotel reservation dates are in July 2021, then only those dates should come up for me to choose park reservations. It was annoying to have to search for my dates each and every time. I have a 10 day pass. So, as an improvement to the system it would be better if the park booking calendar only opened up for your hotel date range. The system knows your hotel dates because it is linked in the account. Wouldn’t it make it simpler and less cumbersome if the calendar for the parks matched?
Kathleen Sommer says
We are having trouble cancelling park reservations so we can make new ones.
DFB Sarah says
Kathleen, in My Disney Experience, go ahead and make your new ones. If you have a trip planned and tickets linked, you’ll likely be able to make your new ones. Then, to cancel, do the following on a computer:
Log into DisneyWorld.com
Click MY PLANS
Scroll down to the first Disney Park Pass you want to cancel
Click VIEW DETAILS
After the page loads, double check the date, then click CANCEL THIS RESERVATION.
On the next screen, click SELECT ALL (or just select the guests whose Park Passes you’re deleting)
Click CONTINUE
