Do you have a reservation at any of these Disney World Resort hotels in 2020? Let us know in the comments!
How about French Quarter and riverside
When is French Quarter and Riverside to open
Jay, we only know what Disney has posted. We will be watching to see when other Resorts are added, and we will update!
Any idea when we will be able to book hotel stays for November of 2020?
I’m scheduled to arrive July 9th at Art of Animation. Since it doesn’t open until August and my stay is arriving before July 10th, what should I do?
Did they say if there would be an additional charge if the only available resorts are more expensive?
Are Disney Springs hotels open yet? Thank you.
That’s really disappointing that we have to contact Disney if our resort that we are booked at is not reopening or it could be cancelled.
What about all star ?
We’re booked at Riverside in November. Hopefully they’ll open it by then, or else get in touch to move the booking to another hotel. Fingers crossed!!
Jackie, they aren’t listed yet.
Joanne, check here. Looks like most are not.
Jen, I don’t think they specified.
Karen, reach out to Disney to see about modifying your stay to one of the open Resorts.
Chris, Disney says later this summer; one of our readers was told as soon as next week when she called. We have not confirmed.
Jay, no info on this, but we will update when Disney releases it.
I’m reading conflicting info. Most sources say that if you call to modify your resort reservations due to closures, you are being charged for an upgrade. But if you wait for Disney to contact you to modify, the upgrade is free. Does anyone have any experience or info to share? We have a late Sept 2020 reservation at POR.
Amy, conflicting info is unfortunately common throughout this closure/reopening. Good luck!
How convenient that only the more expensive resorts are the 1st to open. Some of their decisions just do not bode well for Disney, in my opinion. It’s almost like they are saying “if you cannot afford to pay more for less, then we don’t want you”. We are booked at All Star in a family suite so that we could be in 1 room with 2 bathrooms (all girls). But out reservation is for 2021 so I am sure there will be lots of changes between now & then
Out of luck for our Caribbean beach July 15-18. Think Disney could at least call or notify us. Spent 4 hours trying to get into parks now I don’t have a hotel So frustrated with Disney
Laura, you might want to reach out when you can to see if they can help sort this out.
I’m scheduled to arrive at Wilderness Lodge December 9, thru December 16th, 2020. Since Wilderness Lodge is not listed will Disney automatically move modify my reservation to another hotel or will the cancel my reservation? I have already done my park passes.
Lourdes, you might wait to see if WL gets a reopening date that makes your Resort reservation valid, or you might call Disney to try to sort out a new Resort now. Totally depends on your comfort level. I would say, a lot can happen between now and December.
We’re scheduled for Animal Kingdom Lodge (non DVC) in early September. Will they just move us into the DVC area or do we need to find a new hotel?
Alyssa, I think you’ll need to reach out for a modification or to see what they say since part of the Resort will be open.
I’ve been trying to modify online. The option is there but clicking on it just refreshes the page. Has anyone else had this problem?
@Justine – same for me. We are scheduled for POR in September. The link is there to “change” the reservation, but it simply refreshes the page. I tried calling two different numbers to talk to a cast member (both listed on the My Disney Experience planning page) and both numbers failed the numerous times I’ve tried them. I never received an updated confirmation like the email said I would weeks ago, so I don’t even know the price tag for this “new” package I have at a hotel that probably won’t be open.
That, plus the 3 1/2 hours it took to book the park reservations this morning, have made this a decidedly unmagical experience. I could swallow all of these changes a lot more easily if I didn’t feel like I had to jump through hoops just for a little information. We go annually, and just experienced the magic back in December, but I’d like to be able to get support for this upcoming trip since I’ve hung in there through the chaos.
My understanding is that if you let Disney know you would like to keep your reservation (the dates of your trip) and your hotel will not be open, they will offer you a different hotel to move to. If you accept their offer you are not charged for an upgrade if the hotel they move you to is an upgrade. If you want to move to another hotel that they are not offering you, then you will be responsible for the price difference.
Any word about tickets yet? We booked reservations last January and were going to buy tickets at the resort, our reservations are not until Late August, have not wanted to cancel, however if we can’t get tickets before the dates we will have to
Dolly, Disney says they’ll open new ticket sales for 2020 later this summer. We hope that’ll be sooner rather than later. A reader was told by DIsney that it could be as soon as next week, so stay tuned!
Thank you for the information! Your coverage has been amazing.
We’re staying at Poly (on the DVC side) in July. I’m curious to know about what will be available and open to use since the Poly (hotel side) doesn’t officially open until August 12th. For example, will the gift shop be open? The pools?
Julia, this is the info from the Polynesian drop-down on Disney’s Resort update page (linked here):
Dining
Kona Cafe
Capt. Cook’s
Pineapple Lanai
Barefoot Pool Bar
Shops
Moana Mercantile
Bou-tiki
Activities
Pools
Poolside Activities
Movies Under the Stars
Has anyone been successful at modifying their reservation to an open resort yet? I called Disney last night and the cast member told me she wasn’t allowed to transfer me to the resort reservation department because of the high volume of calls. I had actually waited until about 10pm to make the call for this very reason, but she still told me to call back tomorrow. Well today I’ve been trying to call and every number I have for Disney is busy. I don’t even have the option to wait on hold, but I would really like to get this settled before more groups have access to the park pass system. We’re booked for French Quarter on July 25th. I wouldn’t mind changing our dates since Caribbean Beach opens on the 29th, but only if park pass reservations are available. I also booked the room with a passholder discount and I would really like to know if I’m going to lose my discount by switching resorts. I think I would even be open to switching to the Contemporary and paying the difference if I knew I would keep my discount. It’s just so frustrating that I can’t even talk to someone about my options so my husband and I can decide what to do. If anyone has been successful with talking to Disney about this I would really appreciate any info you can share. We really do not want to stay at Pop Century for our anniversary trip (rescheduled 3 times already), especially if we have to pay full price.
My granddaughter and I had a June reservation. Unfortunately, it was thru a travel agent. Now we are trying to go in July, the only time I can get her, per her Mother and then school starts in TX soon. Are we going to be able to book a hotel for July at all? Or if not, we are AP, and we might still get in the parks, but have to stay at a non-Disney hotel. Do you know if those are open yet? I tried a Hilton close by and it said not booking for “short term stays” whatever that means?
Donna, Disney is saying new reservations for 2020 will open later this summer, and a reader heard from Disney that it could be as soon as next week. So we will continue to monitor the situation closely and report as soon as we have the info. Hopefully it’ll come sooner rather than later so you can plan.
Update: So I was finally able to get my call to go through a little after 5pm and we got a FREE UPGRADE to our reservation! (Recap – we had a reservation for French Quarter on July 25th and needed to modify since that resort won’t be open). I won’t say where they moved us to just in case others have a different experience, but we are extremely happy with it! My advice to anyone with a similar situation is just to keep trying with persistence and patience. Disney cast members are still making magic happen if you give them the chance. Also thank you AJ and the DFB team for keeping us all up to date. I would have totally panicked over all these changes if it wasn’t for all the early info I read here.
Tammy, so glad we could help. Congrats on getting your trip plans settled!
Wanted to share my experience to help anyone trying to modify their hotel reservations this week. We were planning to stay at CS in the tower which has been given to the NBA and will be unavailable to the public until October. I had read conflicting information about whether I should reach out to Disney or wait in hopes of a free upgrade. I decided to reach out and not wait because the language on Disney’s website made me nervous about waiting. I started calling at noon (yesterday) and was unable to get through until around 4:45 then after a 90 minute wait on hold I spoke with a lovely woman in reservations. I told her we wanted to keep our exact dates and simply need to be moved to a open hotel (we have an August arrival date). CS is a moderate resort so I was only offered a move to CBR at no cost. Only option provided by Disney! My experience was modifications are only taking place within resort levels. Example: moving moderate to moderate. The woman I spoke with was unable to confirm that any restaurants/food would be opening at CBR or that the Skyliner would be opened by August. The no food issue was not an option for my family because we have a toddler. After listening to my needs regarding my family, I was moved to the Contemporary. Yes, I had to pay for the upgrade but it was worth it to me for the location and knowing the hotel would have open restaurants. The upgrade cost was a few hundred dollars not thousands like what some posts mentioned in their experiences. I hope this information helps others in the same situation and gives you a frame of reference. If you are calling to modify keep trying. The woman I spoke with in reservations was great! I was just disappointed with Disney in regards to giving my hotel to the NBA and then not covering the upgrade that my family required. I’m sorry being offered a hotel with no open food locations is unexceptionable especially for families with children. Yes, perhaps CRB will have open restaurants by August but until that is official Disney needs to do a much better job with their hotel mortifications. Best of luck to others in the same situation!
Thanks for sharing, Shannon! Have a relaxing, fun trip. 🙂
What About Movies,Sports or Music? When will they open? We have tickets and Park Reservations for Dec.30th thru Jan.2nd. We are waiting to reserve one of those hotels.
Javier, still no word on these.
