We’re back, Annual Passholders, with more news on how you’ll be able to use the Disney Park Pass!
Although the new mandatory reservation system will go live tomorrow on June 22nd, Annual Passholders without a hotel reservation will not be able to schedule visits to the parks until June 26th. Since Passholders are only allowed 3 reservations at a time, it’s important to note that you may have to make separate reservations from regular ticket holders in your party as well.
While Disney will be hosting Passholder Previews and offering new payment options for Passholders, many guests are wondering how their specific passes will work when the theme park reservation system goes live.
Although there are possible extensions on passes that have already been activated, some people have purchased Annual Passes without using them yet. If you are one of these Annual Passholders, you’ll be happy to know that you WILL be able to make a Disney Park Pass reservation tomorrow (if you have a hotel reservation) and on June 26th, if you just have the pass. A Cast Member confirmed that this would be the case when the new system goes live!
Since there are so many updates and changes happening currently, we will continue to keep you updated on new ticket, hotel, and park modifications!

Just got off the phone with Disney…people like me who bought an annual pass (in my case a Silver) but didn’t make it to the park to activate it because the parks closed will be getting left out of the July 9 & 10 preview!!! You cannot activate your AP over the phone and you cannot even drive all the way over to Disney Springs to activate it (was told it had to be done in person at one of the theme parks). That’s some pretty crappy business on Disney’s part. I can’t even begin to say how insulted I am that not only have they collected a $160 deposit back in March but I have also made a monthly payment every month (once automatically at the time of purchase and three more where I actually called in and made the payments during the closing!) Major slap in the face Disney! I really love how every time I get on the phone with you, you tell me how important your AP members are….well guess what? Not so much now!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Is activating an annual pass different now than it used to be or is this only for non FL residents? When we bought our first passes we were told they were activated the minute we paid for them.
DFB Sarah says
Vicki, Annual Passes have to be activated on-site at Guest Relations at a Park or Disney Springs. If you buy a Pass on-site, it’ll be activated right from the purchase, I believe.
Ricci Allard says
I agree with Vicki Daley-every time I’ve purchased an AP (which is usually a renewal), the countdown has started immediately. This year we decided to wait until we arrived in Disney for our April visit to purchase one, but that obviously didn’t happen. I just booked a trip for January and see that on 6/28 we can start making park reservations for 2021, but we don’t have passes yet and I’m worried that if I buy them now (online) and they activate I’ll loose 6 months on the pass . Is that not the case?
DFB Sarah says
Ricci, if you buy an AP online, my understanding is that you receive a voucher with a confirmation number. You have to take that information to a Guest Relations window on-site to activate the Pass, and it starts the countdown toward expiration only after it has been activated. You can try contacting Disney to confirm, but this is my understanding.
Linda Stoddard says
I have a confirmed DVC reservation and had purchased an AP on line which was not yet activated. This morning I was able to make my park reservations for an August trip with no problems. When I signed in my reservations showed and , apparently, the AP purchase was noted.
DFB Sarah says
Linda, that’s great to hear.
