Before select Disney World resorts began their phased reopenings today, several new health and safety procedures were announced.
And yesterday, guests who would be arriving at Disney World’s newly reopened resorts were sent a “must-read” e-mail which included a Health Acknowledgement.
When we arrived at Disney’s Riviera Resort and Disney’s Contemporary Resort today, we were surprised when we entered without having our temperatures taken.
We noticed many health and safety reminders were posted near the entrances, but there was no mention of guests being required to undergo a mandatory temperature screening nor did we see a health screening area where temperature checks would be conducted.
Disney has stated face masks must be worn at all times at Disney World’s theme parks and hotel common areas, and temperature checks will be mandatory for entering parks. We thought Disney World might be temperature screening its hotel guests as well. However, this doesn’t appear to be the case as of now.
After talking with a Cast Member at two different resorts, we were told that they will not be conducting temperature screenings at hotels at this time. It’s possible temperature screenings may be required at a later date, especially once the theme parks begin to reopen on July 11th and July 15th, but as of now, guests will not have their temperature taken at the hotels.
We’ll continue to provide updates as more information becomes available!
You MUST have a dining reservation to visit a different Disney World resort than the hotel you’re staying at. Learn more details here.

Teri says
Were the Riviera’s pools open with the opening of the hotel?
DFB Sarah says
Teri, yes. Guests were told to wear a mask in the area, but they could remove their masks when seated (chairs were spaced out) and when in the pool.
Eve Stern says
Hmm, maybe because they don’t want to discriminate guests who are coming to the hotel to self-quarantine before going to the parks?
Al M. says
Is Florida still imposing two week quarantine for ppl from NY? How are/would they check or know?
DFB Sarah says
AI M., so far, yes.
FN says
You DO realize that you have to stay in quarantine 2 weeks after arriving in Florida from NY, NJ or CT. Then you can go to park . Then you have to quarantine for 2 weeks when you return home to NY, NJ or CT. Realistic?

Millions of WDW Guests will appreciate the NO THERMAL TEMPERATURE CHECKS. The Thermal Imaging type of temperature check only reveals a SUIRFACE TEMPURATURE, NOT a CORE TEMP. Millions of Guests with Diabetes, Cardiac Issues, Caner or Leukemia, Thyroid Problems, Rheumatoid Arthritis and women in Menopause will have elevated SURFACE TEMPERATURES. Also Overweight people. NONE of these CONDITIONS are CONTAGIOUS and the guests are NOT COVID CARRIERS. However…They would be UNFAIRLY DENIED ACCESS TO ALL DESNEY PARKS, RESORTS and RESTAURANTS.
If they wish to use an ORAL THERMOMETER with disposables covers to get an ACCURATE ORAL BODY CORE TEMP…..That would be fine.

My wife and I will be arriving at the contemporary Friday the 17th and going to the magic kingdom Saturday how do we get out temperature checked before we go into the park since we can walk directly to the park ? Thanks
DFB Sarah says
Joe, there’s a temperature screening tent along the walkway just before the security screening that’s already been in place on the walkway.
