It ain’t easy being green, but Disney World’s new McDonald’s makes it look pretty EFFORTLESS!
The former McDonald’s on Disney World property shut its doors a while back to undergo a major renovation. And the updated McDonald’s has since reopened with some awesome enhancements.
The restaurant is now much LARGER than the previous McDonald’s, plus the newer model comes fully-equipped with lots of eco-friendly bells and whistles!
In addition to a bigger dining room, the McDonald’s now features an enormous outdoor seating area. Solar panel awnings provide guests with some shade while collecting energy to fuel the restaurant!
Believe it or not, this McDonald’s runs ENTIRELY on energy provided by Florida’s SUN! You’ll see little markers throughout the restaurant with facts about solar energy so you can learn something while enjoying your Big Mac attack!
There’s even an interactive element to this Mickey D’s — you’ll find some stationary bikes off to the side, and if you pedal them fast enough, you’ll light up the iconic Mickey D’s sign!
There’s also a hand bike for those with better upper body strength than us.
The McDonald’s still has a drive-thru so you can get your food without leaving your car.
There are multiple pick up windows that span one entire wall of the restaurant. McDonald’s drive-thru is pretty popular with a lot of guests who are either heading to the parks or are on their way home and just need a quick bite or drink!
The pretty much covers the exterior of the solar powered McDonald’s, so now it’s time to head inside.
Guests can use kiosks to place their orders and pay for their food. You can also use McDonald’s free app or, if you prefer, you can walk up to the counter and order your items the old-fashioned way. The choice is up to you!
You’ll either take an order number or be handed one if you place your order with a McDonald’s team member. Then you take it to your table and an employee will bring your food out to you.
Several tables had built-in tablets, although none of the touchscreens were active when we stopped by.
The restaurant is equipped with self-service fountain drinks.
If you’re looking for a fast (and CHEAP!) meal on your way to or fro from the Disney parks, Disney World’s McDonald’s is fully operational — and pretty neato, too! Check it out on your next trip for all your Big Mac and Chicken Nuggie needs!

Are you going to make a video about using that foot door pull? I can see some of us losing our balance.
HP says
Why exactly is there excitement about a McDonald’s at Disney? Maybe I don’t get it because I’ve long since given up McDonald’s food. I just associate it with unhealthiness and the obesity problem we have in this country (super size anyone?). Plus, there are so many other, uniquely Disney options! Am I missing something?
Ken says
I love the foot push option… definitely Disney-esk for Mickey D’s….
Lourdes Jimenez says
Where in Disney World is Mickeyd’s located? I’ve never seen it.
DFB Sarah says
Lourdes, it’s located at the intersection of Osceola Parkway and West Buena Vista Drive.

I can’t wait to visit this newly remodeled McDonald’s! It’s well overdo! It looks amazing! Thanks for the pictures!
Ben Prentice says
How may I reach the store’s GM?
DFB Sarah says
Ben, I haven’t tried this myself, but here’s the number I found on GoogleMaps: 14079390875.
Anna says
It’s not enough to reduce the carbon footprint of one stand-alone building. While it’s the right direction in slowing down global warming, it’s simply not enough. Now if they said they would start to source all their meat and potatoes locally, I would believe that they are actually trying to make a difference…
Carol says
We visited the new McD’s several times during our visit in early May. Loved it. Just wish they offered the diet energy drink sponsored by Coke as part of their cache of beverages or the Coke Free Style machines. Inside wasn’t available when we were there so drive thru line could be long, but moved quickly. The interactive cycle machine was cool- especially at night.

For those unfamiliar with the street and names at WDW, to find Mickey D’s, take a drive past Coronado Springs, Past Blizzard Beach, under Osceola parkway and then it is on your left. A little out in left field on the Animal Kingdom side of the property. Enjoy your day
