When Disney World closed its parks, new ticket sales and the ability to make new hotel reservations were suspended.
Disney wanted to make sure they were accommodating guests with existing tickets and hotel reservations (including Annual Passholders) when they reopened the parks and rolled out the Disney Park Pass system. Disney World has already welcomed new vacation package sales for 2021 and now, Disney has shared when they will resume 2020 ticket sales and hotel bookings.
Disney World is starting the phased reopening of its theme parks this week, which you can read more about here. And, now Disney has shared that 2020 ticket sales and hotel bookings will resume tomorrow, July 9th.Â
According to Disney, “tickets and Disney Resort hotel bookings may be released at different times throughout the day tomorrow.”Disney will also use virtual waiting rooms as needed to manage the high volume of guests looking to plan their visits.
Although new park admission will be available to buy, Disney will still be requiring that guests use the Disney Park Pass system to make reservations to visit Disney World. So check that calendar to make sure the days you’re hoping to visit the parks are available.

Are they allowing AP holders to book more than 3 days before using the 3? Doesn’t seem fair that AP’s, which are technically every day park tickets ( depending on type), can’t book park reservations for more than 3 days, but new tickets are being sold. And do you have to book a Disney resort reservation to purchase tickets?
Melissa says
Does this mean that those of us with existing tickets will be able to add day? I have 3 days but want 4.
Ryan says
This is such amazing news. We will be staying at the Polynesian Sunday through Wednesday, and while we were excited to just get away to enjoy some time at the pool and at the hotel restaurants, we were really hoping Disney would open up ticket sales. Fingers crossed we manage to book a couple (if not all – let’s be real) days! Thank you for reporting this, DFB! I guess I should stop avoiding the videos and prepare a list of must-eats (is it weird that a MICKEY PRETZEL w/ CHEESE is on this list? Refined palate, I know). I assume we have no insight into whether Disney will be opening up sales to resort guests without tickets first, right?
And hey, if we can’t get tickets… at least we still get to hop around the hotel restaurants and lounge poolside!
Thank you as always, DFB! SO EXCITED!
Cathy Gold says
What does this mean for park attendance? Will it go back to being crowded and at a higher capacity?
DFB Sarah says
Cathy, we expect the number of tickets available will fall within whatever range for capacity that Disney has decided is appropriate in the Parks. We would NOT expect it to be pre-closure crowd levels, but since Disney rarely (if ever) announces capacity numbers, we won’t know numbers for sure. Disney has said the Parks will have reduced capacity.
DFB Sarah says
Ryan, glad the timing sounds like it will work out for you.
DFB Sarah says
Melissa, we would expect yes. Good luck!
DFB Sarah says
Emily, we have not heard this change is occuring. We believe today may be the day APs with Resort reservations can also make their three non-Resort DPP, but we will update if this is confirmed. The language appears to be no Resort needed for the new ticket sales today.
