We’ve got another BIG transportation update for ya, and this one’s a bit of a doozy!
Moments ago, we told you Disney Skyliner would be loading only one party per gondola and that Disney World’s parking lot trams would be unavailable when the parks reopen.
And now, we’ve just learned while Magic Kingdom’s monorail service to and from the Transportation and Ticket Center has already resumed, monorail transportation to EPCOT will not be available until further notice. Disney World’s website reflects this recent update:
Keep in mind Disney World’s bus transportation has resumed at this time but is currently running between Disney Springs and the resort hotels only. Once the parks reopen, bus transportation between the resort hotels and Disney World theme parks will be provided to guests. Click here to see how Disney World’s buses have changed since the last time you rode them!Â
Disney World has recently installed new distancing barriers on the monorail and implemented other health and safety precautions which you can view here. We’ll continue to closely monitor official Disney sources for further transportation updates and let you know if anything changes!
Even more Disney World restaurants will be reopening soon — including some BIG NAMES! Click here to see which ones we’re talking about!

Ashley says
Is it still the case that the monorail is unavailable to EPCOT? Any word on when it may become available?
DFB Sarah says
Ashley, last we checked it’s still unavailable. We haven’t heard a date as far as I know, but we will update as soon as we do.
Tina says
Is there any other way of getting selfie in front of spaceship earth without going into park?
DFB Sarah says
Tina, you could try to do it from the main entrance before scanning to enter the Park, but you’ll have some obstructions to that view. You could potentially try to take a selfie from the Monorail, but your timing would be key, and that would have obstructions as well, I imagine.
Julie Sav says
Hi,
We’re going to Disney World on January 3rd and we’re trying to get updated information on park transportation. Do you know where we could find it?
We’re staying at Wilderness Lodge and I’m trying to figure out the best way to get to EPCOT if the monorail is closed. Also, if the buses are running between the resorts and the parks.
Are we better off just spending the money and renting a car?
DFB Sarah says
Julie, Disney is updating Resort offerings and transportation here. When it comes to deciding about a rental car, that’s a tough one. You’ll have to decide if having control over your own transport is important enough to spend the money.
