We’re in Magic Kingdom today for the Annual Passholder preview of the reopening!
One of our BIGGEST questions has been how long wait times will be in Magic Kingdom. Well, we’re working on figuring it out; some lines are definitely LONG. You might think the longest line in Magic Kingdom today would be Splash Mountain (after all it IS going to get reimagined). You’re close, but there’s actually a MUCH longer wait for something else.
It’s true, the attraction had a little under an hour wait this morning — but the LARGEST line in Magic Kingdom today was for the SPLASH MOUNTAIN MERCH! Frontierland stores are using a virtual line (much like we saw in Disney Springs when World of Disney opened).
You’ll never guess how long the wait was when we got in line — 240 MINUTES! That’s FOUR HOURS. Dang, people really want their Bre’r Bear plush toys!
Is this wait time the most surprising thing we’ve seen in Magic Kingdom today? Maybe. Keep in mind guests don’t have to physically stand in line. The virtual line will send them a text when it’s their turn in line. Stay tuned for ALL the updates from the Passholder Preview days in Disney World!

Justin says
What do you think will happen when it rains? Most shops haven’t had to activate virtual queues, but do you think they will when it rains and park attendants run for cover? Will we be caught out in the rain?
DFB Sarah says
Justin, I’m not sure about this. I think I’d be prepared with a poncho just in case…
Jim says
If people shop like they did yesterday and buy 20 of each character ( and then post them on eBay for over $100 each) I for feel sorry for those folks who are later in the day for their virtual spot unless they have a lot of stock in the back room.
Brandon says
Everyone was in line for the Merch so that they could sell it on eBay.
We’ve been tracking it and since the Magic Kingdom openings, the amount of splash Mtn Merch listed on eBay has increased exponentially.
So THAT is why the lines to Splash Mtn Merch is so long. Not for any other reason.
Snow's mom says
Dang Flippers.
Brandon says
Someone on Instagram posted a photo of a husband and wife walking out of Splash Mtn gift shop with 5 large bags each.
Geee I wonder how long it will be before we see all that on eBay. 🤦🏼♂️
Kay says
That’s how many people want it to stay the same. If you don’t like the ride don’t get on it. Weird how there’s always a long wait for this ride but now it offensive
Jeremy says
I’m sad that Disney didn’t have enough foresight to limit this merchandise so that it would be available to meet guests. When I went for the AP preview day, I saw people leaving the store with up to 12 bags stuffed with SM merch. And you know it’s not for their personal collections. It’s a sad shame.
Denise Thomson says
They should have limited Splash Mountain merchandise purchasing!
DFB Sarah says
Kay, the line was the for the gift shop near the ride.
Bunny says
The ride has always been offensive.
I agree with others that Disney should have put limits on merchandise purchase.
