As of today, Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom are now reopened to guests!
If you’re staying in a Disney World Resort hotel, you will still have access to Disney transportation to take you to the parks. But how early can you rope droppers head out? Here’s what we know!
Magic Kingdom opened at 9AM today and Animal Kingdom opened their gates at 8AM today! And, our team headed out bright and early to experience the reopened parks — well, as early as we were able to! According to a Cast Member we spoke with, Disney transportation including monorails and boats between hotels and the parks started operating at 8:30AM.
Walkways to the Transportation and Ticket Center also remained closed until 8:30AM — here’s the barrier we spotted at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort prior to the scheduled opening!
Here’s a closer look at the sign that was posted on the barrier!
For guests driving to the parks themselves, cars were held outside the parking lot entrance of Animal Kingdom until 7:40AM, at which point guests were able to begin parking.
According to a few Cast Members, resort buses are expected to start running from 45 minutes to an hour before park opening.
This is what we experienced today, but remember these times are subject to change as the reopening progresses and could vary based on park hours! Stay tuned for more coverage from the official reopening day at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom!

Adam says
Do you do temperature checks at Contemporary, Polynesian Village or Grand Floridian before getting in the monorail to the Magic Kingdom? Or do you do it after disembarking at MK? I would imagine it would be before bag check but I’m not sure.
