There’s been a pretty big change to the Disney World resort hotel reopening plans this morning.
Several Disney World resort hotels have had their reopening dates delayed, and that means there’s a whole new round of affected guests who will need to deal with their reservations. Today, Disney has confirmed that they will give affected guests the option to move their reservation to another hotel at no charge.
Previously in the reopening process, some guests affected by cancellations and schedule changes have had to pay the difference if they wanted to modify their reservation to a different resort. With the current changes, that is no longer the case. Now, those looking to modify can do so at no additional cost.
The delayed dates that this statement applies to are the following:
- Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort was set to open on August 12th and will now be opening on October 4th.
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort was set to open on August 12th and will now be opening on November 1st.
- Disney’s Beach Club Resort was set to open on August 24th and will now be closed until further notice.
- Disney’s BoardWalk Inn was set to open on October 1st and will now be closed until further notice.
If you are affected by the recent change in reopening dates, Disney will be contacting you with information on your options. Stay tuned to DFB for all of the latest updates about the resort hotel reopenings in Disney World!

I am booked for AKL Jambo in October, is there any word of this opening? still cant see anything on it except a couple months back where DVC people were being moved to Kidani, but nothing on “regular” hotel bookings.
DFB Sarah says
Matthew, still no opening date for Jambo House.
Pam says
Three questions please!
1) I was supposed to stay at AoA in September so I’ll be moving hotels. Any recommendations on which I should hope for/choose given the current transportation available?
2) Does anyone know HOW they are choosing where you move to?
3) AND should I really just wait for them to contact me to change hotels or be pro-active and do it myself?
TIA!

Pam, I think reaching out to Disney isn’t a bad idea with regard to making changes. Unfortunately I’m not sure what their procedures are for deciding where to place guests. Hopefully other readers can offer insight from their experiences, or — better yet — hopefully you can get through easily to Disney to get some answers. Good luck!

Polynesian Standard view. Caribbean Beach is super spread out and you could walk forever.

I had a reservation at AOA for a lion king suite and a little mermaid room for my entire family in late September. I was given the option to choose from any of the deluxe villas on Disney property. I wanted a resort that was totally open ,not just the villas. I chose Riviera mainly for the skyliner. I got a 1 bedroom villa and a deluxe studio for no additional cost. Had to push a little to get preferred view but I got it.
DFB Sarah says
Gary, have a wonderful trip! Riviera looks stunning.

Just to say that I have received a phone call from the AKL booking, and was told I was being moved to Yacht Club or Cancel
