A lot has changed at EPCOT since the park reopened last month! From plexiglass barriers being installed on some of the rides to Cast Members walking around with face mask reminder signs, some of the differences have been night and day!
Others have been less obvious though and you really have to look hard to find them! For instance, there’s been a slew of menu changes lately and today we spotted a pretty big switch-up at one of our favorite restaurants over at the World Showcase!
La Cantina de San Angel is a popular spot to sit back and relax for a spell thanks to its gorgeous outdoor patio overlooking the World Showcase Lagoon — not to mention this place is known for serving up some tasty Mexican cuisine and margaritas too. It’s so popular, in fact, it almost took home the crown in our DFB Quick Service Restaurant Throw Down before it was beaten by Aloha Isle.
Today, we noticed something looked a little different on their menu! Previously, La Cantina de San Angel served its Churros with a side of caramel for maximum deliciousness. Now they’ve switched out their caramel sauce for a chocolate hazelnut spread. Aka Nutella!
If you’re not familiar with Nutella, it’s a yummy chocolate hazelnut spread that’s featured in another one of our favorite goodies at Magic Kingdom — the Nutella Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich at Sleepy Hollow! We were pretty stoked to see how the mini Churros tasted when we dunked them in the wonderful, silky smooth cocoa-y spread!
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how adorable this little bby Nutella cup is? The package is shaped just like the jar you’ll find in the grocery store! It’s almost too cute to open.
Alas, in the name of science, we did what was necessary and removed the lid. As soon as we opened the cup, we could smell the delicious aroma of Nutella fill the air around us!
For the moment of truth, we dunked the tip of one of our churro pieces into the chocolate hazelnut spread and gave it a shot! It definitely adds another layer of sweetness to the churros but also helps balance them out with all that rich chocolatey goodness. Chocoholics will probably prefer the Nutella dipping sauce version over caramel sauce any day! We happen to like them both, but we’re always looking for a good excuse to fit more Nutella into our diets!
You can find the Churros with Nutella at La Cantina de San Angel for $4.99, but they have been known to run out of the Nutella cups every now and then so you might want to ask a Cast Member before placing your order if they’re in stock to avoid eating dry bites of churro!

I adore churros. But I truly dislike Nutella and I know I’m not alone. You’d think they could have more than one dipping sauce. Maybe a spiced caramel sauce. Best of all, I wish WDW would go back to making their own stuff instead of signing contracts with companies like Nutella, Starbucks, etc.

Nutella? Yuck, that’s not chocolate sauce! Other than a pure hazelnut itself, I absolutely detest the taste of hazelnut anywhere. Do yourself a favor and head over to Three Bridges and order the churros with not only REAL Chocolate sauce but the scrumptious Tequila Caramel.
