As you’re probably aware EPCOT is in the midst of a pretty major transformation.
The transformation includes the reworking of much of Future World, some enhancements around World Showcase, and the reimagining of the EPCOT Main Entrance. We’re super excited to see what the design of these areas will look like and now, thanks to a Walt Disney Imagineer, we have a sneak peek of the brand-new Main Entrance Fountain!
Thanks to Disney World Imagineer and Site Portfolio Executive Zach Riddley, we’re taking a look at the brand-new pylons that went in LAST NIGHT for the main entrance fountain. Holy moly! Those are sooo pretty.
Riddley explained that the design team “took special interest in looking back to the original geometry for inspiration and infusing new features with a little bit of added magic to bridge the past, present and future of EPCOT.” We can totally see these influences in the design. In our opinion, the pylons are a pretty gorgeous addition to the main entrance area.
Another purpose of the pylons is to draw the eye upward and frame Spaceship Earth. These pics definitely make it look like they’re doing their job. The best part of this news? Riddley noted that the completed look for the fountain will be revealed later this year! Eek!
We’re keeping a close eye on alllll the updates to development in EPCOT so stay tuned to DFB to know about all of the news and changes!

You need to back off a bit. One cannot really see the concept of it all.

I always did love the original fountain, but I will miss The Fountain of Nations.

Looks great, somewhat inspirational, now if the could just keep futureworld focused on the learning lab environment that was its early trademark when it first opened. We need more education opportunities at Epcot Future World, a glimpse of what is to come… I remember seeing the very early cell phone concept strapped to your wrist with a finger mike and a thumb speaker to hear, or the wheel chair that can walk up stairs, and so many other things. The what if’s to the what is coming kept me returning to Future World with my young daughter year after year. Test track was a learning lab on how we test and build vehicles, now it is a cartoon thrill ride. While mission space is very unique, body wars was just as good and in some cases better. Ellen and the Energy pavilion was a staple and was a great loss to millions, I dread the dark roller coaster ride hat is come. Walt always invested and cherished the future and education, Epcot was the spirit of why that Walt passed on to many of us, and we need the education factor returned to the Epcot philosophy.

Of the ToN is gone I’ll b so disappointed; I used to sit several times on every trip and just watch it. Can u tell me if it will still b there please?
DFB Sarah says
Essie, it looks like the front fountain will be there at the base of the pylons, but the Fountain of Nations is expected to be gone.
