With so much of our time and attention centered around Disney’s theme parks and entertainment industry, you might be wondering what’s been going on with Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa in Hawaii.
When Disney Resorts everywhere began closing, Aulani followed suit and a reopening date for the hotel still hasn’t been announced.
With Hawaii’s cases on the rise, the state’s governor has just extended the 14-day quarantine requirement for out-of-state visitors. Governor David Ige announced earlier this travel restriction would be in place until October 1st — at the earliest.
A recent surge in cases has led Ige to make the decision to keep the 2-week self-quarantine order for out-of-state travelers in place. Knowing this extension could put further strain on Hawaii’s travel industry, the governor said ample notice will be given to businesses when it is safe to welcome back tourists.
As of right now, Disney’s Aulani Resort is currently accepting reservations starting October 1st, but we’ll keep you updated if anything changes!

Visited Aulani in September 2019 and it was absolutely breathtaking! We spent 2 weeks at the resort and loved everything about it.. restaurants, nightly live entertainment, beach, snorkeling all there! Off the resort there are several great and inexpensive restaurants. It wa the most relaxing vacation we’ve experienced. Can’t wait to go again!

My husband and I went to Aulani for our 45th wedding anniversary in 2012 and it was fantastic. The flight from the Washington, DC area was long, as they had just cancelled the last direct flight from Dulles in VA prior to our departure, but a single plane change at O’Hare was a piece of cake. We did get a direct flight on the return. Aulani is worth every hour it takes to get there. We’ve had DVC since 1994 so took the plunge for such a special occasion. Disney knows how to do everything right, in our opinion. Got to talk with local residents on the flight over that were so pleasant and even gave us a list of local restaurants to check out that were spot on. For anyone that has a Costco membership, it was good to find out from those local residents that a Costco was just down the road from Aulani. Great place to gas up that rental car return and not pay the exorbitant prices the rental companies charge if you don’t fill it up for return. Sure, gas isn’t cheap in Hawaii, but Costco had the best price. Great place to make food purchases to cook at your room. Will definitely return to Aulani in future. The place is breath taking.
