In the months since Disney World began its phased reopening, we’ve gotten TONS of questions from our readers regarding the status of some of our favorite locations throughout the resort!
From restaurants and resorts to barbershops and boutiques, here’s a list of just SOME of the locations that STILL have no reopening date announced!
Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts
The majority of Disney World’s hotels have either reopened or have announced a reopening date. Then there are the two Port Orleans Resorts, French Quarter and Riverside, that have yet to announce ANYTHING. Not even a PEEP of a reopening timeline has been announced for these Moderate Resorts.
Some resorts have had their original reopening plans delayed, like Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. And most recently Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort’s reopening was delayed by a whopping YEAR and will now open in summer 2021. But Port Orleans is a rare example of hotels that have announced NOTHING as of this writing.
Disney has been very flexible in accommodating Guests with upcoming reservations at resorts that wind up being closed. If you fall into this category, Disney will reach out to you in order to move you to an open resort at no added cost. You can read more about what to do if your hotel isn’t reopening here.Â

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
One of the highlights of a Disney World vacation for a young prince or princess is a trip to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique! So we totally understand the concern that this popular place with locations in Magic Kingdom, Disney Springs, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa has yet to announce a reopening date!
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is an experience that brings guests and Cast Members into close, prolonged contact with one another, so Disney is more than likely erring on the side of caution when it comes to reopening this location.

Harmony Barber Shop
In the same vein as Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, Disney World has yet to announce a reopening date for Harmony Barber Shop, located on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom. Much like your local hair salon or barber shop, this experience is the exact opposite of what Disney World is trying to promote at this time, which is a contactless experience for both guests and Cast Members.
We hope this iconic Main Street location will reopen one day. But, since the reopening, the NBA’s Bubble League Barber Shop has been the only location on property cutting hair. That NBA Barber Shop closed some time ago when the NBA season finished in Disney World.
In addition to getting your hair cut, here are some other bizarre things you can do in Disney World!
Restaurants Galore!
A large number of restaurants have reopened in Disney World; however, there are many that are still closed and have yet to announce any reopening plans. Some of these restaurants are pretty major players!
For example, we have NO idea when ‘Ohana will reopen, but we can only hope that it reopens sooner than summer 2021, which is when Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is now scheduled to reopen.
Most signature dining is also put on hold, and we haven’t gotten any updates on these high-end dining experiences. Most notably, we don’t know when to expect Victoria and Albert’s or Citricos to reopen!
Dinner shows like Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue and Disney’s Spirit of Aloha are also unavailable with no reopening dates announced at this time. A few in-park favorites are closed as well, like Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom.

Most of the Live Stage Shows
Disney World isn’t just about the rides, and yes, even WE will admit it’s not JUST about the incredible food! Disney has some spectacular live stage shows that have largely been put on hold. This includes Finding Nemo the Musical in Animal Kingdom, as well as Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage and Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, to name a few.
There’s no word yet on when most of these shows will return, for perhaps a few reasons. First, theatrical events and live stage shows where large crowds of audiences are clustered together for an extended amount of time is probably NOT the safest environment. Even if seating in theaters was socially distanced, you’re still packing hundreds of guests into tighter quarters.
Disney is offering a few shows, but very few. You can currently watch For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration and the Disney Junior Play and Dance Party at Hollywood Studios.
A modified version of Festival of the Lion King has already had its soft reopening in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
The show will officially reopen on May 15th!
Click here to see what’s changed at the modified version of Festival of the Lion King.
The return of fireworks and parades like Festival of Fantasy have not received a return date either. While guests can enjoy character cavalcades, Disney’s big parades and nighttime spectaculars still remain on hold.
When Disney World said “phased” reopening, they REALLY meant a phased reopening. Not everything is coming back right away, and as Disney navigates these unprecedented times, they have had to make in-the-moment decisions to delay certain locations reopening. Disney may or may not have dates in mind for when they would like these locations to reopen, but until the make an official announcement, we’ll just have to be patient!

Trisha says
I noticed that Savi’s Workshop wasn’t on this list, does that mean there’s an opening date for them?
Thank you guts so much for all you do and all the info you bring! I watch all your videos!
DFB Sarah says
Trisha, well, Savi’s is “open” but only with merchandise right now. We don’t have a return date for the experience yet.
Mandie says
What about the waterparks?
DFB Sarah says
Mandie, no word on water parks reopening yet.
Nicole Drumm says
Have you heard any rumors regarding reopening of Disneyworld water parks?
Steven S. in NJ says
I don’t water parks will open any time soon because even if the chlorinated pools do kill the coronavirus, the massive crowds around those pools are a godsend to the virus and a super spreader! Just look at the news about crowds at the beaches on both U.S. Coasts!!!
Nicole says
Has there been any word on when Disney Dining Plans will be returning?
DFB Sarah says
Nicole, no word yet.
DFB Sarah says
Nicole, not yet.
Juli Waddell says
I’m surprised that there is no change in admission fees with no parades or firework displays. Oh well…
Paul says
Port Orleans Riverside is my favorite place in the world! Please reopen soon!
Jackie says
I did see an opening date for INE water park. Can’t remember where…. but it was in the last few weeks. Not really old news.
The gyms are open spas are not. I lied the spa.

Hello DFB,
We appreciate all you do. I know you want to hop on a flight and come to SoCal and take lots of photos. We would love to have you, but can you please lay off the reopening of Dland. We have raging fires, our public schools in OC are just starting, maybe, opening, o yeah plus a pandemic. Listen I want to use my AP more than the next fan, I can not wait to go to the club and see our favorite cast members, but it would look really gross if kids aren’t in schools, but hey I can get a churro and a Mickey bar at Dland. The optics look greedy and unwelcoming. My hope is either Nov or Dec. Thank you for all you do, much love and good health.
Darlene says
No mention of Animal Kingdom Lodge – Boma reopening?
DFB Sarah says
Darlene, so far no news on Boma that I know of.
Brenda says
do you all think Disney may be considering re-theming port orleans and french quarters like Splash Mountain? Maybe that’s why they havent given a reopening date?
DFB Sarah says
Brenda, we have not heard this is happening.
Brian says
Being that some buffets that are open went to family style service, it’s surprising O’Hana isn’t open being that it was already family style service.
Kristenhiepler says
What about jelly rolls?? I had planned so spend my birthday there this June!
DFB Sarah says
KristenHiepler, Jellyrolls is closed, but we will update as soon as we know when it’s going to open.
Judith Eudy says
I am waiting for harmony barber shop to open for my 2 year old grandson
Lisa says
Hi! Any info on when Harmony Barber Shop is reopening or when Hoop Dee Doo will be returning? Thank you!
DFB Sarah says
Lisa, still no word on these, as far as I know.
