Disney World has been open for almost two months, but Florida continues to face the global health crisis.
The state was placed under a State of Emergency beginning March 9th. The State of Emergency order has been extended twice since its initial filing and was set to expire tomorrow. Now, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has filed a new executive order to extend the State of Emergency by another 60 days.
DeSantis issued the order of extension this morning meaning that the new expiration date for the State of Emergency is November 3rd. This order is subject to change; we may see another extension or we may see an order to let it expire early depending on the health crisis.
Florida no longer has any travel restrictions in place from the gubernatorial office, so the state of emergency does not necessarily impact any trips to the state. We will be checking in on this situation often so stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates.

The only way they can get the additional funds is to extend the order. .On March 9, Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 20-52, declaring a State of Emergency for COVID-19. By declaring a State of Emergency, Governor DeSantis is ensuring that state and local governments have the resources and flexibility they need to prepare and respond. No order no money and money may still be needed. All the counties are doing this as well. The county I live in has extended it as well to make sure funds are available if needed.

Gov. Ron DeSantos is a moron! Nobody is enforcing this “travel ban”. I’m flying into Orlando from Philadelphia in 4 weeks. I live in NJ. I will be doing the 14-day quarantine when I get home (no problems there, I don’t have a job and my partner WFH). If I was going anywhere else other than Walt Disney World, my trip would have been cancelled again, but Disney World is doing this right and we feel very safe traveling. Even on an airplane.

Commercial aircraft are the safest places to be, as they are constantly changing out the cabin air with fresh air from outside. But check for yourself. Do some research.

Why are you bringing up a travel ban? There is no travel ban in Florida. The Emergency order is something completely different and has nothing to do with a travel ban. Oh and by the way I am happy with Ron Desantis.

This looks great on paper. I live in Florida next to the largest Retirement Villages in the country. Not all of its citizens were compliant, yet the Governor praises them all the time. What the Governor hasn’t done through this whole thing is make a cohesive state attempt at curbing this thing. Masks were not ever mandatory except when local mayors mandated it. After passing those decisions to the Mayors, he now wants them all to report in to him on their mandates. Now numbers are not being published as they were before. At first I believed he was going to be a strong leader in the pandemic but that wasn’t to be. It was the people who believed there was a problem and the mayors and the Business leaders who enforced mask rules and social distancing, who closed their businesses under great loss to them that deserve credit. Our governor declares an Emergency on one hand and invites the world to “come on down” with the other.
