So, if you’ve been following along over the past few days, you know that fall and Halloween snacks have already arrived in FULL FORCE in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
But TODAY is the day that seasonal snacks are hitting the scene at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom, too! From now through October 31st (BOO!), guests can conjure up seasonal sweets, a few savory eats, and novelty items (like Sippers and Popcorn Buckets) to celebrate the autumn season! And here in Animal Kingdom, we’re digging in right away at Creature Comforts, the park’s Starbucks location.
Believe it or not, we’re actually NOT picking up a Pumpkin Spice Latte this round. Nope; this time, we’re searching for something far more sinister …a Disney Villain, in fact. And we found him!
The Scar Cupcake is hard to miss within the bakery case, what with his villainous visage staring out from the top — not to mention gigantic green flames surrounding him! (Seriously, it’s so big, the Scar Cupcake won’t fit in the carry-away containers, so he gets a plate!)
The red velvet cupcake is filled with toasted marshmallow and topped with chocolate marshmallow frosting, chocolate krispies, white chocolate flames with green coloring, and a SCAR made of edible icing!
With the ample amount of marshmallow, both in the center of the cupcake and as an ingredient in the chocolate frosting, this cupcake definitely has some elements that are very, very sweet to taste.
However, that sweetness — while still present — is tempered a bit with the chocolate in the frosting (along with the fun chocolate krispies) and the cocoa flavor in the red velvet base.
That red velvet cake base was the one disappointment — it was a bit dry. But the biggest texture surprise — this time, a pleasant one — came from the bit of toasted marshmallow in the center, which actually lent a fun bit of crunch…almost like a malt ball!
Overall, it’s another big hit for the cupcake game in Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
