For some, it can be extremely difficult to get up from that hotel bed after a long night in the parks — even if a Mickey waffle is awaiting you for breakfast.
Well, guests at Disney’s Pop Century Resort were all treated to a very early and startling morning wake-up call today!
Thank you to some of our wonderful followers on Instagram who contacted us this morning to let us know that the fire alarm went off this morning at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. Thanks to our follower Johnny Milone (_jman_444) for letting us know that the fire alarm and resulting evacuation occurred at 5AM this morning in Building 6 which is in the ’70s themed section of the resort. It apparently occurred again at 7:40AM.
As far as we know at the moment, everything is fine at Pop Century and no one was hurt. One follower told us: “I believe the first they said someone pulled it [meaning the fire alarm] (for no reason) and the second I overheard they said because of the condensation made it trip again… but I don’t know! They moved us to a new building with some Disney Magic, so that was nice!”
A similar situation actually occurred last week as well at Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort when a guest pulled the fire alarm.
If you’re at a Disney hotel when a fire alarm goes off, here’s what you need to know: If the fire alarm goes off, you must leave the building. Just like you were taught in school, you’ll need to exit the building where the fire alarm is going off in a calm and orderly fashion. You’ll also need to remain outside until you are specifically told that you can go back inside.
If you see or hear of any unique happenings during your next trip to Disney World, be sure to let us know by reaching out to us on our Instagram or Twitter. We’d love to hear from you! If we hear any more information about this situation, we’ll definitely give you an update. And we’ll continue to keep our eyes open for more Disney news!

This is terrible! I hope the guest(s) who pulled the fire alarm were caught, fined, and possibly evicted from the property!
June says
Possibly evicted? They should be banned for life! My husband used to be a fireman; a false alarm is no joke.

So we just got back from staying at Pop Century in building six where this occurred. I have to say that Disney is wonderful with guest relations, but not when it came to this. We got no communications about what had happen, hard to find a cast member to ask. I would have at least expected a voice mail to the hotel phone, a text message or even an email about the situation. I am glad it was just a false alarm, but cast members needed to communicate with the people staying in the building better

Thank you for sharing, Kathy.

We were getting ready to leave this morning, but we had just stayed around our resort all day and the alarm went off first at about 3:30 pm because we were taking a nap before packing to leave early in the morning. So then at 4:30am the fire alarm went off again, but this time was evacuated! I think we where all kind of dumbfounded and half asleep, didn’t really know what to do! The fire department came cleared it and we where able to go back to our rooms!
