Halloween season is a monster’s time to shine!
As Disney fans, the first monsters we think of aren’t vampires or werewolves — it’s our buddies from Monsters, Inc.! And, in honor of the upcoming holiday, Capt. Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is serving up a seasonal dessert that’s scary cute!
2319! We have a 2319! Pack up your Monsters, Inc. Loungefly and put on your Monsters University MagicBand because the Mike Wazowski Dome Cake is BACK at Capt. Cook’s!
This cutie consists of a milk chocolate cake dome with white chocolate icing made to look like the monster/comedian! And he’s got his one good eye on us!
We saw this cake last year at Kona Island at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, but that cake was covered with fondant. This year’s version has a layer of white chocolate icing on the outside instead — it’s softer than fondant and way easier to cut.
Here’s the cake cut open from last year for comparison:
And here’s the cake from this year. As you can see, the outside is definitely NOT fondant. The inside is a pretty standard milk chocolate cake.
If you’re interested in seeing exactly what changed and what you can expect in this little guy for special diet and allergy purposes, here’s a list of ingredients.
We love the vibrant colors of this treat, but the cake is a little dry and there’s not a huge wow factor when it comes to flavor or texture. Is Mike worth the cost? Well, he’s not the most unique or delicious Halloween treat we’ve seen so far this year by far. But if you have a Monsters Inc. devoted kiddo (or a Monsters Inc. devoted instagram following), it could make sense for you.
If you’d like to indulge in the Mike Wazowski Dome Cake, you can snag him at Capt. Cook’s from now through October 31st for $5.99!
