It’s been several months since we’ve been able to step beyond those gates and into Disneyland Park to enjoy the sights, sounds, and magic of the happiest place on earth. And, we’ll just say, we’re in serious need of some snacks from Bengal Barbecue!
Although we’re still waiting for an announcement of a new reopening date for Disneyland Resort, we’ve got updates now about some of the changes we can expect to see in the Anaheim theme parks when guests can finally enjoy them again.
According to the Orange County Register, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure “will expand mobile ordering for food and drinks” when they reopen “to promote contactless payments, reduce wait times and cut down on long lines at quick service restaurants.” The OCR notes that new dining locations will be added to the Mobile Order feature on the Disneyland app.
According to the OCR, Disney officials have stated that The Tropical Hideaway in Disneyland and Studio Catering Co. in Disney California Adventures will both be added to the mobile ordering feature when the parks reopen.
The OCR also reports that Disney officials have indicated that “Disneyland will strongly encourage mobile ordering as the primary way to order food and beverages” at quick service restaurants where the mobile order feature is available. We’ve seen a similar policy in Disney World. Other changes are also expected as part of this expansion of mobile order.
The OCR notes that the Disneyland App will expand the payment options available when using mobile order beyond just credit cards — adding Apple Pay and Disney gift cards as available payment options. Similar options were added to the Mobile Order feature in Disney World back in May of this year.
Additionally, Disneyland will lower the minimum age to place a mobile order to 13 years old (down from 18 years old).
Several restaurants in both parks are already on the Mobile Order platform, including Bengal Barbecue in Disneyland, Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo in Disneyland’s Star Wars:Â Galaxy’s Edge, and Award Wieners and Corn Dog Castle in Disney California Adventure.
What’s not on the Mobile Order list yet? The OCR lists the following:
In Disneyland Park
- Clarabelle’s
- Daisy’s Diner
- French Market RestaurantÂ
- Market House
- Plaza Inn
- Pluto’s Dog House
- Rancho del Zocalo
In Disney California Adventure
- Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta
- Cozy Cone Motel
- Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe
- Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop
How many of those will be added to the mobile order feature is unclear right now, but more details should be released soon. Over in Disney World, since the reopening we’ve also seen more restaurants added to the mobile order feature on the My Disney Experience app. We’ve even seen additional features added to the app, like Walk-Up Waitlists for some table service restaurants and even a mobile order table service to go option. We’ll be interested to see if some of these features make their way over to Disneyland as well. We’ll definitely be keeping our eyes open for more information and we’ll let you know what we find.
