We’ve been a little obsessed with Fish and Chips recently. Maybe it’s because we saw those AMAZING Minnie Mouse Fish and Chips Ears (and all that other cool Fish and Chips merch). Or maybe it’s just because we’ve had a craving for some fried goodness.
So that’s why we got excited when we found out that the Yorkshire County Fish Shop at the U.K. Pavilion at EPCOT would reopen soon! We’ve wanted some fish and chips there since…well…since before Disney World reopened!
So today we made a beeline over to Yorkshire County Fish Shop, where we stood in a socially-distanced line. (FYI, they have a LOT of six-feet-separated markers, so I think they’re anticipating that Fish and Chips will be mega popular!)
Also, you might want to note that there’s a relaxation station right next door if you want to enjoy your fish and chips in the shade and leave your mask off for a bit.
The menu is pretty simple: just fish and chips and beer. Well, there are also Cuties on there, but we’re just here for the fish and chips and beer! There are also other beverages available, like tea and sodas.
Finally, it was our turn to get our hands on those Fish and Chips we love so much! The portion is $11.49. But the fish is slightly different now. A Cast Member told us the fish used to be tilapia, but now it’s hake, but the recipe is exactly the same. This kind of fish ingredient update happens from time to time at the Fish Shop, and is market-driven mostly. Usually guests aren’t able to tell the difference.
Which was the case for us today! It totally tasted the same — DELICIOUS. The batter on the fish was nice and flaky, and the fish itself was light. This will always be one of our fave snacks. And those thick-cut English chips (AKA french fries) are bringing that salty, crunchy-on-the-outside-fluffy-on-the-inside goodness — and WE LOVE THEM.
Now, I know you’re wondering about your condiment options now that things are a little bit different around the World. Ours came in a plastic bag on the side when we purchased today, and we got ketchup, vinegar, and tartar sauce.
But what’s fish and chips without beer? We chose the Harp Lager Draft for $9.25, which we felt was a good choice and complemented the fish nicely. A light beer for a light and flakey fish!
Needless to say, we’re pretty happy Yorkshire County Fish Shop has reopened. However, if you’re wanting to head over there, you should know that it’s only open on weekends, at least for now. That could change, though, and we’ll let you know if it does.

Hake is a wonderful and sustainable wild white fish, a favorite in new england where it can stand in as “schrod”. I much prefer it to the thinner and less tasty (IMO) tilpia for fish n chips. hope it’s still on the menu for our visit in december!

what are cuties? 😀 I’m from the UK and i am unsure if i am being daft or i just don’t know what they are!
DFB Sarah says
Daisy, Cuties are small Mandarin oranges.

“But what’s fish and chips without beer? ” Normal I’d say. Chippes don’t usually sell beer!

When we dined at Rose & Crown back in November 2018, the portions were noticeably smaller, the fish tasted fishy, the fries tasted frozen bag fries and they had changed the tartar recipe. Back in the day, they used to include mushy peas as well. So sad what WDW has come to.

Hake is healthier for u than tilapia is anyway. Tilapia is delicious, but I won’t but it anymore since I found out about how it is raised on the fish farms. The fish from your article makes me want fish for my dinner tonight.

The fish was always greasy

The Yorkshire Co. fish and chips are one of my favorite Disney bites!! Is the Hake a larger portion of fish (it looks like you now only get one piece rather than two)? Btw, you described the chips PERFECTLY. You make my mouth water!
Amy says
Hooray for the change!! Hake is way better than that farm raised talapia. Yorkshire Fish Company was not open when I last went to EPCOT in early August, so am thrilled that it has reopened.

Nothing like real fish ‘n’ chips. In the UK chips aren’t crispy, and it should only ever ben Cod or Haddock for the fish.
Just looking at those chips they look like frozen chips.

Tried the fish and chips today; the fish was mealy and the batter was way too greasy. The fish was essentially inedible and went in the trash after two bites. That being said the chips were quite good and I did enjoy them.
