I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Well, not in the era of COVID-19, we shouldn’t.
The latest sign of increased safety measures at Disney World? A reimagined sundae experience at one of our favorite ice cream shops!
When someone orders an ice cream sundae as EPIC as the Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream Soda Shoppe, it DEFINITELY merits celebration!
For anyone who’s ever ordered the mighty Kitchen Sink at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts can recall, it typically entailed a lively parade of pomp and circumstance from Cast Members, who brought out the hefty sundae as lights flashed and sirens blared.
Check out what ELSE is different at Beaches and Cream nowadays!
Considering this thing has EVERYTHING including the kitchen sink — the menu literally says the ice cream comes “smothered in every topping we have” as well as whole can of whipped cream — it’s definitely something to clap and sing about!
But with the current state of the world, the soda shop has nixed the announcement aspect of the sundae and have begun bringing it to tables without any hullabaloo. We got this information from Cast Members when we noticed that there was no “big deal” made when a fellow guest at the restaurant ordered the sundae.
Kind of a shock? Sure. But when you factor in that they’re doing it to prevent anyone from screaming without masks on, we know it’s a safety precaution and is likely temporary. Some health experts have claimed that yelling and screaming can spread the virus faster than simply speaking around someone else. Tokyo Disneyland even encouraged guests NOT to scream for this reason.
So go ahead and treat yourself! And feel free to whisper a little song to yourself while you’re at it!
Disney shared their recipe for the Kitchen Sink sundae, so you can make it at home and scream all you want!

This was so disappointing and so ridiculous. We didn’t realize this wasn’t going to happen when ordered the kitchen sink. With people so far apart it made absolutely no sense that people couldn’t cheer and they couldn’t ring the alarms. Disney is way more like a hospital than a theme park right now. I would say that eating is about the most normal thing you can do at Disney right now, though.

We also ate at 50’s Prime Time last month, and there was no joking from the cast members. Although the food was good, we mainly went there for the entertainment for our 11 year old granddaughter. She had heard many times about her parent’s experiences there. How disappointing! We should have just gone to Sci -Fi. No reason why we can’t laugh and have a good time. 🙁
