The NBA has been playing in a bubble in Disney World for several months, and now they’re super-strange 2020 season has come to an end!
In an exciting NBA championship game, the Los Angeles Lakers beat out the Miami Heat with a final score of 106-93. With the Lakers as the new NBA Champs, Disney World turned to a major symbol to celebrate!
Last night, just after the game wrapped up over at ESPN Wide World of Sports, Disney celebrated the win by lighting Cinderella Castle in the Lakers’ team colors — a sparkly purple and gold.
A statement from Disney notes that, “The specially colored Cinderella Castle commemorated an extraordinary performance by the Los Angeles Lakers and the successful return of the 2019-2020 NBA season through a remarkable collaboration between the NBA and Walt Disney World Cast Members.”
We’ve gotten pretty used to the NBA’s presence in Disney World, so it’s kinda strange that the games are over! As always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates from Disney World!
