Disney continues to allow its health and safety measures to evolve as the weeks go by in the reopened parks.
Just yesterday, we noticed the addition of plexiglass on Tower of Terror, and over the weekend the mask policy saw a significant change in language noting protocols when guests do not comply. Now, that update has been added to the overhead announcement.
The new announcement notes that “Guests that do not comply [to the mask mandate] will be asked to leave.” This comes as one of several additions to the mask announcement since the reopening. You can listen here.

I guess I won’t be able to go to Disney because my two year old absolutely refuses to wear a mask. He’s TWO! If he doesn’t know how to use the potty properly, how can he be expected to wear a mask all day? He’s a BABY! They should really increase the age to the age of understanding and reason. You can’t reason with most two year olds.
Aaron says
2 year olds can get covid and as such can spread it to others. Yes, most of the time covid is not too harmful for children but why would you want your child potentially exposing others? Disney clearly does not want your child to expose others.
It does sound best to not visit until your child can comply with the state safety regulations. The regulations are there for everyone, baby or not.
Ken says
It had to come, was waiting for this.
Jules says
There are many of us who will not be able to visit Disney anytime soon, even with the mask requirements. I live with two high-risk family members, so travel, especially to a tourist destination, won’t be in the cards for me until we have an effective vaccine. This is not a normal time, and the ability to travel for leisure to an expensive vacation destination is a privilege at any time, more so during a pandemic. If visitors don’t want to or are unable to comply with the mask requirement, postponing the trip is the best decision. I applaud Disney for doing everything it can to keep those who are fortunate enough to travel now safe, despite the intense backlash they’ve been getting.
Cindy Robinson says
Well, that kind of sucks the magic out of a visit! How often is it announced?
Eric Santo says
For me it’s really simple: I will never go back until the “magic” is back. Meaning, the illusion is intact. Mask wearing and threatening announcements destroy the illusion. As a long-time Annual Pass holder, I am making peace with the fact that I may never go back. A sad day. But no sadder than seeing my beloved Disney World turn into a very expensive Six Flags.
NC-Dad says
Disney is making itself really “unfriendly” towards its own customers. Loudspeaker announcements about policy is really authoritarian in nature, and adding threats is downright fascist.
Joni says
Mandy I think the age limit is 3
For mask.
I’m glad to see they are making sure we ALL can stay safe in the parks!!! Sure don’t want them to close again for a few who won’t adhere to policy.
Michael+Burch says
So glad we cancelled our resident annual passes. Disney has absolutely gone off the rails.
Toni Nolan says
I agree with Mandy, and as I have stated in other comments, what are they going to do if a 2 year old refuses to wear a mask or keep one on for any length of time? How many members of their party have to leave with him or her? I wonder if they thought of this.
Noreen Walsh says
do you get a warning or is this a one and done?
Longtime Pass holder says
Thank you disney. Now if the rest of the the state can follow along.
DFB Sarah says
Noreen, guests get reminders from Cast Members, and the policy is in place more for people who refuse to comply.
Lorraine Pistocco says
Having just turned from a Disney trip, I feel that they are taking necessary precautions . I was in no way offended at the announcements for Covid precautions. There are always those entitled few who believe the rules don’t apply. These are unique times we are living in. From what I understand, there has not been any Covid cases traced back to Disney. That is a pretty amazing feat. Yes , the magic isn’t quite what it was but not much of our world today is the way it used to be. Cast members were trying to be positive and doing the best they could to make your day special. If you are planning a Disney vacation in the near future, have realistic expectations and you can still have a great time.
Mama Bear says
It is definitely for two year olds, and they are strict. Our toddler was falling asleep in her stroller entering the Animal Kingdom, but I had to leave with her when she wouldn’t wear a mask while napping. The kid-sized masks I purchased today say “not to be used under age 3” on the tag. World Health Organization recommends masks for ages 5+ on their website. I asked for clarification on why Disney lowered their initial requirement for ages 3+ (which makes more sense considering 3 is the age you pay for admission) to age 2+ and was told due to CDC. However, the only thing I’ve been able to find on the CDC website is that no child under age two should ever wear a mask. That doesn’t mean every 2 year old napping under a sun shade at knee level is a danger to those around him. Our toddler is the baby, so it is hard to figure out how to keep from disappointing her older siblings. Challenging times! Stay well, friends.

Disney is following what is the SAFEST for ALL the people. If you can’t comply….for WHATEVER the excuse is, it is best that you don’t visit. Frankly, for every one that can’t or won’t comply, there are about fifty that will. I don’t think ‘threatening’ Disney, no matter how important you think you are, is going to make an impact.
