Next year, Walt Disney World Resort will celebrate its 50th Anniversary!
Cinderella Castle has already gotten a makeover in advance of the anniversary, and the resort is taking other steps to get ready! Now, you can join in on the fun and help create some magic for others at the same time!
Disney announced today that for the first time ever, a speciality Walt Disney World Resort license plate will be available for purchase in honor of the Resort’s 50th Anniversary! The design of the license plate will be revealed at a later date.
Florida-registered car owners will be able to purchase this specialty license plate and proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish of Central and Northern Florida. Disney has a longstanding relationship with Make-A-Wish. In fact, since 1980, when the partnership began, more than 140,000 Disney-inspired wishes have been granted! Over 8,000 of those wishes take place at Disney World each year.
If you’re a Florida-registered car owner and you’re interested in purchasing a pre-sale voucher for the license plate now, you can do so for $25 plus applicable state administration fees through local County Tax Collector’s offices or license plate agencies (DMVs) throughout Florida. You can also visit the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles website to learn more about buying a pre-sale voucher for your license plate.
Update: We reached out to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and spoke with an employee at one of their Service Centers in Orange County, Florida. The employee who we spoke to kindly informed us that if you want to get a pre-sale voucher for the Disney license plate, you can mail in a copy of your drivers license, along with a check or money order for $33, and note on the copy of your driver’s license that this is a request for a pre-sale voucher for the Walt Disney World license plate. The employee we spoke to said you did not have to go in person to request your pre-sale voucher, but we recommend that you call the Service Center in your county in Florida to check if they have any specific procedures they’re using.
Additionally, the employee we spoke to noted that the state does need to receive a specific amount of “signatures” or pre-sale voucher purchases for the license plate before it will be created. If that number is not reached within the appropriate time period, then the license plate will not be issued and anyone who purchased a pre-sale voucher will be refunded $25. The employee we spoke to said a lot of pre-sale voucher requests had already been received. If you’d like to request a pre-sale voucher be sure to call your local Florida DMV service center to ask about their procedures.
We’ll be on the lookout for more details about this license plate and any other fun details revealed ahead of the 50th Anniversary. Be sure to check back with us for all the latest!

I just moved to Florida and was surprised that Disney didn’t have a license plate. Yes I’m getting one!! What a great way to support a charity.
Norma Daniels says
Is the 50th year license plate for Florida residents only? I would like one too, but I don’t live in Florida.
DFB Sarah says
Norma, it’s only for Florida-registered vehicles.
Mike says
There is no mention of it on FLHSMV.GOV
Where do you buy the pre-sale voucher?
DFB Sarah says
Mike, I see that, too. This is the link Disney itself provided when they introduced the option.
Mike says
Sarah…The link you provided above doesn’t reference the pre-sale either.
DFB Sarah says
Mike, I saw that, but I wanted to provide you with the link Disney used. I tried finding it with a Google search, too, with no luck. I don’t know if reaching out to the Florida DMV would help or not.
Mike says
Sarah…I called FLHSDMV/Orange County, and the rep stated they were selling pre-sale vouchers by appointment in all the Orange County offices. She further stated that enough pre-sale vouchers would have to be sold before they produced the plate.
Making my appointment now, and perhaps you could republish this article with that update.
Take care!
DFB Sarah says
Mike, thanks so much!
