With Disney Vacation Club resorts open right now or opening soon in Disney World, Hawaii, Hilton Head, and Vero Beach, DVC members can use their points to book a fantastic getaway.
DVC Members also get a number of “membership extras” including certain discounts and special events. But, the points needed to obtain these membership extras has now changed.
Previously, Disney Vacation Club members had to purchase 100 Vacation Points to take advantage of “Membership Extras.” According to the DVC Member Benefits website, Membership Extras include “vacation options in the Disney and Concierge Collections, certain discounts, offers, and special events are incidental benefits.” To receive any Membership Extras, a DVC member must present a valid Disney Vacation Club Membership Card along with a valid photo ID.
As of today, however, that number has changed. The DVC Benefits website now indicates that guests must now accumulate a total of at least 125 Vacation Points purchased directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. in order to get a Disney Vacation Club Membership Card and obtain those membership extras.
These membership extras are subject to change or termination, and the number of points needed to enjoy them could continue to change in the future. We’re always on the lookout for more news related to the Disney Vacation Club and Disney in general, so be sure to come back for more updates.

Just to clarify, this is only for new members, right? This doesn’t apply retroactively to current members?
Chrystie says
@Nicole H – That’s true. It’s for purchasing in to DVC. If you’re already a Blue Card holder you’re good to go.
Michelle says
Nicole I was wondering the same thing. Seems pretty crappy if it is retroactive and affects current members, but that’s what it sounds like to me. I’m already worried about the policies for next year…I banked all my points this year as we planned to take a big trip in December 2021. If all the current restrictions are still in place, there’s no way I want to wrestle a 3-year old keeping a mask on. We’re going to have to burn our points or lose them, neither of which is an appealing option. 😞
Ken says
So what… big deal, DVC has been squeezing their members ever since the last regime change. The good old days of when Ken Potrock ran the show at DVC are over. The new head of DVC, (the blond woman… that tells you something when I don’t even know her name) has been raising the dues and maintenance fees and cutting back on the perks. With this COVID thing, and little to know info on what is happening with points, I am considering looking for a way out. I am paid up to 2055…
Teri says
The way I read it originally, way back when, was that ANY additional benefits that went above the actual room rate could change at any time and were not guaranteed to be available. So yeah, they can change it for all memberships, even day one sales. This is how they will protect from losing sales to resale companies, though I would imagine they could even make those void if they wanted to.
Mike says
Disney continues to make their timeshares more and more unattractive to potential buyers. With resale use restrictions, high DVC entry price, high cost of dues and fewer and fewer “perks” beyond what any annual passholder can receive, I fail to see the attraction anymore. Lately, the only perk I look forward to is the use of the DVC members’ lounge in Epcot.
