Name a more iconic Disney resort hotel water slide than the Keister Coaster at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Villas. We’ll wait.
Well, something is going on with our clown-faced friend, and we’re not sure how we feel about it. Luna Park Pool went under construction a few weeks ago, covering up the Keister Coaster’s visage in the process. Now some surprising details are emerging… Could it be (GASP!) CURTAINS for the CLOWN!?
We didn’t even want to say it but here we are, writing to you guys about how our beloved (?) Keister Coaster may not be returning. Sure, he’s terrifying beyond all belief and the physical manifestation of some of our worst nightmares, but what would Disney’s BoardWalk be without him?
Yikes, those eyes really are something, huh? Well, there’s been an interesting development with our clown-y friend. With the slide completely covered up, rumors have been swirling that the clown part of the Keister Coaster may be gone for GOOD. So, we looked into it.
Not much had changed on the outside when we checked in on the Luna Park Pool today. The construction barriers and scrims are still up so you can’t tell whether the Keister clown is still there or if he hopped into his clown car and skedaddled.
BUT, a Cast Member gave us confirmation that the clown is no longer with us and isn’t expected to return! That’s right folks, looks like our buddy has moved on to the big top tent in the sky. This is SUPER surprising considering Disney hasn’t made a peep on the subject of the clown leaving.
We have to wonder when that blue sky scrim comes down what will replace the Keister clown? The rest of the slide appears to be remaining as is — in rollercoaster form — so it will be interesting to see what becomes the NEW centerpiece of this pool. We could TOTALLY see a cool, lit-up BoardWalk style sign!
You can bet we’ll be keeping a very close eye on our dear friend the Keister so we can bring you alllll the updates. Oh, and we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that his replacement isn’t just as scary!

I won’t miss him. Thank you lord!

Yes!! This is one of my home resorts and we’ve NEVER been in the pool because that clown makes it the LEAST relaxing pool on property! Yay! I hope he’s gone! 🙂
James says
Maybe a lion’ mouth? Or have it look like your being shot out of a cannon?
Christine says
Finally, it scared the stuffin’ out of me!

Can’t say I’m sad. I stayed in a wonderful room with my daughter last year but she refused to ever open the curtains because that clown was staring right at us.

OMG- what’s the big deal of being frightened by a happy clown?! I think the world got taken over by the power of suggestion to many people by seeing clowns in a hit movie or reading a scary novel. So glad I got to see the original slide last July .

Just in case anyone is still wondering about the fate of the clown, someone posted photos online of a dumpster filled with smaller, cut-up pieces of what had once been the clown’s curly orange hair.

I always thought he was cute in a creepy, don’t close your eyes when you slide by him sort of way, BUT…..since Stephen King’s “It” came out…not so much !
Mike says
How about an elephant, to keep up with the theme? Except turned backwards! Remember when Ace Ventura, Pet Detective, climbed out of the back of the rhino suit? 😉
You only thought the clown gave you nightmares!!! LOL!!!
(I’m sorry, COVID-19 has affected my filter)

RIP Scabs. You will be missed.

I saw nothing scary about the clown. I grew up going to the Jersey shore and BW reminds me so much of it. Sad to see it go. Has no one ever gone to a circus or fair and not saw clowns, they’re funny.
Jenn says
Thank you! I hated that thing. Made me not want to stay there. LOL 🙂
SD says
He is gone, I know the people building and installing the replacement. So far, looks amazing. 😉
Catalina says
Thank God that thing’s gone that gave me nightmares everyday🥰

Good grief people !! It was just pieces of wood and paint! I honestly cannot understand the fear and dislike of clowns. They remind me of the joy and fun of the circus and all the talented performers of the “show”. After all, that is what Walt Disney wanted to extend to his audience- the joy of the “show”. °o°
