Disney World has been updating the health and safety measures in the parks as needed.
We’ve seen several updates to the mask policy and the overhead announcement that reminds guests of the rules. Now, there’s a new update.
We heard the new announcement while strolling through the parks today. It was similar to past announcements we’ve heard, noting guests to keep their masks on at all times except while eating and drinking while stationary, but with an addition.
Now, the statement also mentions that in the interest of safety it is not permitted for guests to eat and drink in line. Our friends at AllEars.Net caught the new announcement on video. You can hear it here!

Good, it makes sense. We saw a man and his wife eating a turkey leg and drinking while waiting in line for a ride….they were told about masks and eating…they pulled the mask up while chewing.. follow the rules or don’t come. Easy rules to.follow!!

It’s been like this at least since March, hasn’t it??

Wow…the level of ridiculousness just keeps going. Some folks have medical needs, and depending on how long the lines are, they may not have a choice. Also, in the summer heat, there is ZERO way Disney can expect folks to stand in a hot, sweltering, humid line for 1-2 hours with a mask already affecting their breathing for some rides and NOT have something to drink. You know, given their financial situation, you would think they’d be trying to get more people IN to the park…not keep more people OUT. Crazy.

I agree that most people can go without eating while in line, but taking sips of water should be allowed. Dehydration is also a serious health concern and should not be taken lightly. Over the years, I have seen many people go down from the heat that needed medical intervention. If you are distanced, then having something to drink should not be an issue. Isn’t that what the experts say? To wear a mask or be distanced?

This just keeps getting worse! Disney is being ridiculous. I for one will not be taking my family to Disney world till all this is behind us. The Disney we love doesn’t exist right now! Disney has the right to make the rules for their parks, and I have the right to spend my money elsewhere, which is what I plan to do!

The problem is that there is always one person (or more) that don’t want to follow the rules for one reason or another. Disney has to tighten their policies. Stop taking pictures with no masks, stop taking your masks off to eat and drink where you’re not supposed to. If one person does it, others think they can do it to and then guess what. Disney will have to close again. If you will not follow the rules then do not go. It’s that simple. There is way more people willing to follow the rules so it’s so annoying to see people not following rules as well as complain about them. Grow up kids!!!

What about people with medical conditions like diabetes? If waiting in line for 2 hours and blood sugar drops and they must eat a snack will cast members accommodate by reserving their spot in line ? How will that be handled?
