There’s a lot of work being done over at Disney’s Polynesian Resort at Disney World.
The resort is currently undergoing a big Moana– themed refurbishment, and we’ve been following a lot of the construction progress!
Previously, we noticed that some of the hotel’s iconic beams were being removed. But today, we noticed construction taking place on that area of the resort.
Here’s a look at what the resort is expected to look like once completed.
As you can see, there are beam elements, so this could be the construction work that’s beginning. We will be on the lookout and update you as the construction progresses.
Inside the hotel, rooms will be getting a Moana-inspired makeover. The Great Ceremonial House is also getting a big update with a new porte-cochere. We can’t wait to see the final result when the resort reopens in summer 2021.

An iconic resort, I hope they don’t corn ball it up with Moana stuff. The movie never really did that well.

Yes. I have stayed there twice. I really loved the first time as we had a lagoon view. The second time the room was a standard view which was ok. The only problem was the distance we were away from the lobby. If we had been closer we would have enjoyed it more. I loved the tropical charm of the resort. My three favorites are the Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge and Port Orleans. Disney is my go to place! This year is the first year I have missed in such a long time. I usually go to either Disney World or Disneyland every year but being high risk during Covid-19 put a stop to going this year.

Yeah, Ken…Moana didn’t do very well…it only made over $640 million dollars at the box office and is the 132nd highest grossing film of all time. 40th highest PG rated film ever. What a disappointment.
