We’ll be the first to admit that the Disney parks during Christmastime are pretty magical!
The decorations, the lights, the Christmas-y music — it all just really sets the mood for a fantastic holiday season! This last week we saw holiday decor arrive all around Walt Disney World and festivities begin, and we couldn’t be more excited! Today, we’re sharing our photos from a trip to Disney’s Animal Kingdom at night to check out what their decor looks like after dark.
Entrance Area
First up, we have the entrance! Decked out in a beautiful garland filled with Christmas lights, this one just really sets the mood for your entry into the park.
Even the ticket booths got a seasonal makeover, with garland everywhere!
We always have to stop and take a look at the Christmas trees! Each tree is specifically themed to its park, so make sure to take a close look at all the ornaments and trinkets up close, if you get the chance.
The photo opportunity outside of the entrance to the park has been changed up to a holiday version. This one features a wintery landscape with various animals and nature designs.
The inside of the Guest Relations area looks perfectly cheerful with wreaths hanging behind the desk and a Christmas tree in the window!
They’re doing a great job of getting guests in the Christmas spirit as soon as they walk in the park!
Discovery Island
Over on Discovery Island, there were plenty of new decorations to check out! Island Mercantile was all decked out in garland, wreaths, and lights.
These decorations are incredibly detailed! You can see just how ornate the garland is up close.
Discovery Trading Company also got a holiday makeover. Like Island Mercantile, this location has wreaths and garland, but there’s something else.
These animal luminaries are super cute and very fitting to the park’s theme!
There are several different creatures to spot — this could be a fun “I Spy” activity with your little ones!
The holiday decor combined with the lights on the Tree of Life gives the whole area a very festive glow.
Creature Comforts also get some decorations with the addition of some garland.
It blends in really well here with the warm lights coming from inside the store.
Dinoland USA
Over in Dinoland, the giant dinosaur fossil got covered, and we mean COVERED, in lights!
Restaurantosaurus has a little light-up Santa and reindeer on the roof to celebrate the season.
The old meet-and-greet areas for Donald’s Dino-Bash got a small makeover. The lampposts in this area now have tinsel trees attached for more holiday ambiance.
Even though there are no dance parties or characters in this area right now, guests will still want to head this way to check out the Christmas additions.
Asia
Over in Asia, the red and green lanterns were all lit up for guests to see!
There wasn’t much in this area to see at night, but these lights were an absolutely lovely touch.
Africa
The main square in Africa got some amazing over-the-top decorations this year!
They even have their own Christmas tree — made out of lots of fun odds and ends!
Here’s a closeup of what the middle of the tree looks like.
Lights were strung above the main path and the windows were adorned with wreaths.
To fit with the theme of the area, the decorations were made of some unusual materials, including bottle caps! This one has a bottle cap bear in the middle as well — how creative!
