We’ve heard quite a few of you may have be experiencing some issues in particular making dining reservations in January at restaurants located in the Walt Disney World Resort hotels, so we did a little digging, and here’s what we found out.
First, we checked the Walt Disney World dining reservations website to see what reservations were available at the Disney World Resort hotels for the first week of January. Specifically, we checked from January 1st through January 9th for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at all of the hotels for a party of 2. The only spots we could find with availability on some of those days and times were basically Rix Sports Bar & Grill at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort and Il Mulino at the Walt Disney World Swan Hotel. The remaining restaurants at the hotels appeared to be showing “no availability.”

So, we chatted with Disney to see if they could give us any insight on the situation. The Cast Member who we chatted with advised us that dining reservations tend to fill up quickly, and to check back later to see if additional availability is released.

We also called Disney to see if we could get any more information. The Cast Member who we spoke to on the phone said that they have received a number of calls from guests experiencing a similar issue this morning. The Cast Member told us that Disney has not released a lot of the Disney World Resort hotel restaurant reservation times yet, but that they’re hopeful they’ll be releasing those reservation times soon. The Cast Member advised us to check daily to see when the reservations get released.

So, it seems if you’re trying to book a dining reservation at many of the restaurants located in the Disney World Resort hotels for January of 2021, you should continue to check on the dining website daily (particularly if you’re trying to snag a hard-to-get reservation) to see when these reservations get released. We’ll definitely be following up on this situation and checking Disney’s dining website to see if we spot any changes, and we’ll let you know if we do.

My ADR was today and we couldn’t find a single breakfast the whole 7 days were are there with the exception of Rix Sports Bar. We were only able to book 1 sit down meal of the four we had been looking for. I’m a little frustrated.
I set an alarm to wake up at 5:45 and was able to book almost every ADR we wanted. You have to pounce the minute you are able to book because things were going quickly 😬
I had an interesting time… if I looked for “dinner” nothing was available; if I looked for “6 pm” piles of things were available! very odd… I have ADRs for all of the first week from the 2nd to the 9th, sometimes two per day… but the system did go out here and there which made it tricky.
It is good advice to check daily. Our vacation days are Jan2-5 in the parks. My ADR window was over a week ago when Disney was having computer problem with their dining reservation system. Today I was able to make reservations at 50’s Prime and Be Our Guest. While looking at options I saw available reservations for Cinderella’s Castle.. It seemed there were more options available for our dates. Check several times a day and be persistent until your vacation ! Usually you will have success . We gave a larger family so choice reservations can be more limited. I have searched for smaller parties of 4 plus 3. Searching with a smaller party will give you more options . In this situation I would call Disney to make 2 reservations for your party at similar times if you find availability. The online reservation system will only allow you to have 1 reservation-it will delete your existing reservation if you try to make an additional reservation for the same date and similar time.

something is going on with disney as a whole, their reservation system is failing, and shopdisney isnt issuing refunds or handling returns.
For two months I’ve been trying to book breakfast for our party of four at Topolino’s for any day during my Riviera Resort stay in mid December and have not once seen any availability. I began trying too early, maybe, but kept at it and still struck out every time finding absolutely no available times at all. It’s hard to believe they filled up completely so quickly. Thanks for sharing your chat and call stories with us, as I did not bother to even try asking, as it seems the answers are never helpful. They always answer with “try again later.”
That’s strange. I’ve been able to find reservations perfectly fine! I got Topolino Terrace, the Wave, and California Grill regarding eating at hotels. I also got Olivia’s for breakfast.
Looks like they have been releasing in waves. I was able to grab some things the evening of my ADR and a few more have popped up since. Very weird. The first day the only breakfast available for our whole 7 day trip was Rix Sports Bar. Maybe places have opened since then.
