Last week, the holiday season OFFICIALLY arrived in Walt Disney World, bringing over-the-top decorations, delicious specialty treats, and lots of new merchandise.
One of our favorite things this year, though, has got to be the Christmas cavalcades! Seeing Mickey, Goofy, the toy soldiers, and even Santa Claus decked out in their festive best made our hearts grow three sizes! (Christmas tends to have that effect on people, just ask the Grinch.) But we all know that it rains A LOT in Florida, which calls for rainy day holiday cavalcades!!
We’ve seen rainy day cavalcades before, but somehow they’re even cuter during the holiday season! First, we caught Santa and friends coming down Main Street, U.S.A. The parade leaders were all dressed up in their rainy day best, but there was a twist — their raincoats and hats are red and green!
Santa came strolling through the park in his seat of honor atop the double-decker bus that we’ve seen used for rainy day cavalcades before. He waved to his adoring fans as Christmas music played in the background!
His elves joined him in wishing a “Merry Christmas” to all the good boys and girls. Aren’t their uniforms just so jolly?!
Later in the day, we got the chance to spot a second cavalcade — the rainy day version of Mickey’s Holiday Cavalcade! Mickey led the way in his holiday suit, smiling and posing for the camera.
Our silly, willy friend Winnie the Pooh followed behind Mickey, wearing a white, green, and red striped scarf to show his holiday spirit.
We spotted some more rare characters as well, like Pinocchio and Geppetto! They too were wearing Christmas scarves.
Alice was attempting to stay dry with this stylish clear umbrella — the perfect prop for singing (and dancing) in the rain!
We can’t have “Mickey and friends” without Minnie Mouse! She was riding in style in her own vehicle, dressed in one of her precious holiday outfits.
Peter and Wendy were there as well, the dreary weather wasn’t going to stop them from having fun!
Mary Poppins and Burt brought up the rear, and it certainly looks like they were having a jolly holiday!
We waved goodbye as our friends continued their journey through Magic Kingdom. We’re grateful that they came out to spread Christmas cheer, even in not-so-perfect weather!
