We had an interesting morning as we tried to snag a spot on Rise of the Resistance!
Recently, Disney updated the Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group process to allow guests to get a spot in the Virtual Queue at 7AM, three hours before the Disney’s Hollywood Studios opens. Today, we snagged our spot and then something WEIRD happened.
We picked up a Boarding Group right at 7AM and managed to snag Group 6. Imagine our surprise when our group was called a 9:40AM, 20 minutes before the park opened! It seems that if you’re in the first few groups there is a chance you could be called prior to park open.
This doesn’t change too much — you can still ride right when you get there — except that you’ll have slightly less than an hour window. Ours expired at 10:40AM, so we only had 40 minutes of the park being open to ride. But we do think it is important to note that it is possible that you will be called before the park opens, so you may want to plan accordingly if you get one of the first few boarding groups!

Do you know what time the park actually opened today? I know they’re opening earlier than advertised, but would like to know how early I can get in. TIA!

We had that happen to us last Friday. We were in the park but since they started Mickey’s Railroad before park open too in line for it when we noticed our group was called. We made it with 15 minutes to spare. We knew from our earlier day that week in the park that they started some rides before park open but thought they wouldn’t do Rise until stated time.

We rode Runaway Railway and were off before the park opened last week. Then we went over to ride smugglers run with 10 minutes of actual waiting. Then got some blue milk and a lightsaber, rode some Toy Story rides, and were called for Boarding Group 35 for Rise at Noon. It was a very rainy morning with TS Eta and Rise boarding groups were moving fast.

Sounds like they are trying to keep the first 10 boarding groups for Rise out of the line for Runaway RR. Interesting way to crowd control.
