Earlier today, Disney announced that 3 restaurants will soon be reopening in Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
One of the spots that will be welcoming guests again soon is The Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom. Although the characters will be “taking a break” from greeting guests at this restaurant, it will still be open soon for guests to enjoy and will be serving meals family-style, a change from its previous buffet-style meal. But the REALLY exciting news is that we JUST got a look at the new family-style lunch & dinner menu and we’re excited to share it all with you!
Let’s get right into all the deliciousness! First, your meal will begin with family-style starters. There are three items listed on the menu. First, there’s the Seasonal Salad made with tomato and watermelon, crisp greens, blue cheese, Candied Walnuts and Hot Pepper Jelly Vinaigrette. There’s also some Homestyle Buttermilk and Cheddar Bacon Biscuits served with Honey Butter, Caramelized Onion Butter and Hot Pepper Jelly. And finally, for those guests eating a plant-based diet, there is a plant-based starter available which is made with Marinated Watermelon and Tomatoes served with Crisp Greens, Candied Walnuts and Hot Pepper Jelly Vinaigrette. This appears to be identical to the Seasonal Salad except it is missing the Blue cheese.
Guests will then be able to choose their individual adult entree. There are 5 entree choices available. First, there’s the Baked Chicken Leg. There’s also the Fire-roasted Prime Rib of Beef served with Asiago Potatoes au Gratin, Creamed Spinach and Horseradish Cream. For the plant-based eaters, The Crystal Palace will be serving up some Southern Fried Cauliflower with Cheddar Grits, Fire-roasted Corn Salsa and Sauce Creole. If you’d like some pork, you can opt for the Brown Sugar Glazed Bone in Pork Chop served with Sweet Potato Casserole, Seasonal Vegetables and Spiced Apple Reduction. And, last, but not least, seafood fans can munch down on the Blackened Catfish and Shrimp served with Cheddar Grits, Fire-roasted Corn Salsa and Sauce Creole.
And, finally, there’s the BEST part of the meal — dessert! At The Crystal Palace there will be a shared dessert platter. The menu lists three items — the Family Style Dessert Platter, A Hunny of a Cupcake, and a plant-based option, the Italian Strawberry Shortcake. The Family Style Dessert Platter comes with QUITE a few treats including Seasonal Fritters with Powdered Sugar and Bourbon Caramel Sauce, Banana Cream Pie, and Hummingbird Cake. The Italian Strawberry Shortcake (which is plant-based) is described as a Vanilla Cake with Whipped Topping, Strawberries and Fresh Basil.
Kids have their own separate menu where they’ll get to pick 1 appetizer, 1 entree, 2 sides, and 1 dessert. Appetizer choices include fresh watermelon or bite-sized cheddar cheese and grapes. For the entrees there are 4 choices – baked chicken leg, seared catfish, macaroni and cheese, and fire-roasted prime rib. The sides available include roasted potatoes, green beans, grapes, cheddar grits, collard greens, and steamed carrots. And, finally, for dessert the kids can pick a strawberry lemon cupcake, strawberry shortcake, a vanilla honey-caramel cupcake, or seasonal sorbet.
The online menu then lists a number of allergy-friendly starters, entrees, and more, so if you are dining with specific allergies, be sure to take a look at those in advance. The “A Hunny of a Cupcake” definitely sounds interesting (and hopefully will be VERY cute) and we are SO excited for those Homestyle Buttermilk and Cheddar Bacon Biscuits! We cannot wait to try this spot once it reopens on December 13th. Keep in mind that reservations will be available online on December 1st, so if this menu sounds like something you’ve GOT to try, then you’ll want to make your reservations then.

I’m glad more restaurants are opening at the absolute happiest place on earth but is there any evidence of the buffet style restaurants return to their formal glory of create your own feast? I get the family style in the interim but many of these restaurants have adult prices of $50-$60 per adult (kids over 9 are considered adult I believe). Isn’t keeping the price point this high a bit much for a “chicken dinner”? Would rather Disney go Family Style similar to Liberty Tree Tavern whereas you can request more of an item.

Too little offerings, too high priced. Not a option for family’s anymore. Same mentality . Charge more for less.
