When visiting a Disney World park like Animal Kingdom, there’s a LOT to take in, both in terms of entertainment AND education!
This is especially true at Kilimanjaro Safaris, an attraction so immersive that it’s MUCH more than a “ride.” To better prep you for the experience, Disney just premiered a NEW video for visitors to watch as they prepare to board!
Kilimanjaro Safaris is one of those attractions that we don’t mind waiting in line for! Why? Because the line is so entertaining in and of itself!
LOADED with fascinating information about African animals, ecology, and language (FYI “Simba” means “Lion” in Swahili!) Disney does an amazing job of building anticipation.
Along the way, there are several synced screens that display a looped video delving even DEEPER into life on the Harambe Wildlife Preserve, and per our most recent safari, they’ve rolled out a brand new video!

The video is divvied into sections, including one about nighttime photography and how to take the best photos after sunset! After all, a lot of the most iconic animals in Kilimanjaro are nocturnal, so you won’t want to miss a photo op with the lions, do you!?
Another section covers where to look for the best chance to spot animals during the day! For instance, when it’s hot, look in the shade! When it happens to be chillier, animals are more likely to be lounging in the open grasslands, soaking up the sun!
There’s also a section on safety, reminding guests to remain seated and keep an eye on children, and another part detailing Disney’s conservation efforts and important issues like elephant poaching, as well as ways they’re helping combat it.
Also, for those interested in exploring even more, there’s a section that talks about the Animal Kingdom walking trek, and how to do it!
By the time the video is over and you’re boarding the vehicles, you’ll be TOTALLY prepared for the safari of a lifetime!
After the safari, get lunch at the NEWLY reopened Harambe Market!

It is too bad that the original story telling for this attraction is gone. I loved the suspense and drama it presented. It was fun to hear the interaction between the drive, airplane and ground suppot
