The Walt Disney World Railroad has been “temporarily unavailable” for quite some time now!
It has been closed since 2018 due to construction on the new TRON coaster coming to Tomorrowland. For a little while, we got to see the train take up residence at the main station, but it has since been moved to Fantasyland. With the train closed, it looks like Disney’s taking some time to spruce up the station — we noticed scrims on the back the other day. Today, we’ve got an update on those scrims, and things are looking VERY different!
Any guest visiting the Magic Kingdom definitely can’t miss this wall…it covers the entire front of the train station!
Whatever they’re doing back there, they REALLY don’t want us to see it! This scrim is HUGE and pretty obvious.Â
Disney usually tries to make their scrims and construction walls blend in with the background, but this one really stands out and is hard to miss.
This traditional Magic Kingdom photo spot has lost a bit of its charm — here’s to hoping this wall disappears before the Christmas week crowds arrive. We aren’t sure how long these scrims will be up, but we’ll make sure to update you as we learn more.Â
The walls that we previously noticed on the backside remain intact. These are a tad less noticeable, but still don’t blend in perfectly.
We’re definitely curious to find out what’s going on back there, so we’ll be watching this area for more news and information.
We’ll make sure to let you know if we hear any updates on this construction area. In the meantime, stay tuned to DFB for the latest in Disney parks news and all the info on everything coming soon!

I think I’d be more upset about missing this photo op than the castle, lol.

It is sad to see that guest expectations have been reduced to a new low. To see that Disney could not hold up whatever construction updates at the train station until after the holiday crowds have passed is a black mark for guest services. Just think how many Holiday pictures will be dismissed because guests could not photograph the station in all its holiday Magic look. They could have waited to put the scrim up until January when the crowds are much smaller and the holiday look is removed. Bad show for Disney.

This is quite different than other scrims. It almost like they want it to be obvious there is work, Where is the artwork? My guess is this is to cover the quick project tanking place and the powers that be wanted do keep the cost down. An interesting covering to the front door where guests first come in.
