We may just be days away before U.S. citizens could begin receiving an approved COVID-19 vaccination. Pending FDA approval, states could begin distributing the Pfizer vaccine to its first round of recipients as soon as early next week.
Fox35 Orlando has reported that, in the state of Florida, vaccine distributions could begin as early as Monday or Tuesday.
The distribution timeline will depend on when the FDA authorizes emergency use, which is in discussion today by their advisory panel. After the authorization is passed, “vaccine distribution would occur very rapidly,” according to Dr. Steven Smith.
Once approved, AdventHealth in Orlando will be among the first hospitals in the state to distribute the vaccine. The other hospitals that will receive the first round of vaccines are Jackson Memorial in Miami, Memorial Healthcare in Hollywood, and Tampa General – UF Health in Jacksonville.
A vaccine is a critical step in the recovery process for Disney World. Analysts have pointed out that the parks would likely need a vaccine to be available and widely distributed before normal operations could resume.
