It was recently announced that states would be able to begin giving out the Pfizer vaccine to recipients as early as next week, depending on approval by the FDA.

Florida will be among the states receiving the vaccine and may be able to begin distributing it as early as Monday. The state could receive 179,400 doses of vaccine to begin administering, based upon allocation by the federal government, as reported by NBC2.
Florida has a particularly high rate of positive cases, having recently surpassed one million infections. Governor Ron DeSantis has expressed that he has no plans to create any mask mandates, stay-at-home orders, or closures in the future. Presently, there are designated allocations regarding who will receive the vaccine.

Governor DeSantis commented that residents of long-term care facilities and health care workers will be the top priority groups to receive this vaccine. Next in line to receive the vaccine are the elderly and those who are at high-risk for experiencing COVID-19 complications.

The current specified allocations are as follows:
- Health care workers will receive 97,500 doses of vaccine
- CVS and Walgreens will receive 60,450 doses to administer within their facilities, as per their contract with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
- 21,450 doses of vaccine will be given to the Florida Department of Health

Well, I hate to burst anyone’s bubble, no vaccines will be going to Disney World.
Yep, high positivity rate but no masking required in the state. Sure counties can try a mask mandate but no fines are allowed. It’s like giving a speeding ticket with no points or fines. How’s that going to work?
Also, 180,000…that sounds great. That will cover .9% of the population of 20M.
BigDaddy666, if I did the math right, that’ll cover only 0.45% of the population since it takes two shots one month apart. So, while it’s a start, you’re right, millions more doses are needed.
Paul, Thank you for pointing that out. I did not account for the two dosage requirement for the 95% efficacy rate. That means only 90,000 people will receive the full dosage.
