Starting tomorrow, December 16th, Chef Mickey and friends are coming BACK to Chef Mickey’s!
This fan-favorite character buffet restaurant reopened at Disney’s Contemporary Resort back in July with no buffet and no characters (but a much, much lower price). It also swapped its buffet for a family-style meal.
The return of characters doesn’t just mean this reservation can be tricky to get (especially considering Disney World’s lower capacity), it also brings with it some major menu changes.
The chilled options have gone down from four to two. YEP, the Smoked Salmon with Accompaniments as well as the Assorted Cold Cuts and Cheeses are GONE! While these items can be an acquired taste, smoked salmon and cold cuts are CLASSIC breakfast buffet options. However, fans of the Fruits Of The Season and Mini Yogurt Parfaits can rest easy — those items are sticking around.
The bread selections are also undergoing a change. Instead of being given assorted breakfast pastries, there are now two options available: Harvest Sweet Rolls with Honey Butter, Sea Salt and Cream Cheese Icing and Fresh Fried Sweet Fritter with Vanilla-Cinnamon Sugar, which both sounds pretty sweet compared to your everyday danish.
When it comes to hot selections, staples like Mickey Waffles, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, and Sausage Links are sticking around! The famous Potato-Cheese Casserole is also sticking around! It is, however, being moved to the Chef Mickey’s Signature Selections section of the menu with a glow-up.
But there ARE a few swaps. The Roasted Kielbasa is getting traded for Chicken Sausages; Honey-glazed Slow-roasted Pit Ham is gone to make way for Slow-roasted Beef Brisket. Plant-based Mickey Waffles and a Plant-Based Tofu Scramble also get a starring section on the actual menu.
We knew that Chef Mickey’s was getting three NEW menu items, and along with the “Loaded” Potato-Cheese Casserole, we’re getting Banana Bread French Toast with Espresso-Mascarpone Cream, Toasted Bananas and Chocolate Crumbles and “Celebration” Mickey Pancakes. If you can’t decide which to try, no worries! You can sample all three, since Chef Mickey’s will be serving its meals family style instead of on its classic buffet line.
Some cocktails are also getting added to the menu, such as the Chef’s Bloody Mary for $15, the Cold Brew XO which comes spiked with Patrón XO Café Coffee Liqueur for $13 and some seasonal sips, like the Holiday Mimosa, Gingerbread Indulgence, and Gingerbread Cold Brew.
The menu changes (and that long-awaited return of Mickey and friends!) means that there’s also a price increase. Previously, the character-less character breakfast was $25 for adults and $14 for children, making it one of the better breakfast deals at Disney World. Now, it will cost $42 per adult and $27 per child, which is still less than the pre-pandemic pricing for the Chef Mickey’s breakfast buffet, which was $50 per adult and $33 per child.
For now, Chef Mickey’s is still open for breakfast only, from 7 AM to 11:30 AM. Lunch and dinner are still unavailable.
Chef Mickey’s new menu and the characters will make their BIG debut TOMORROW, and you KNOW we’ll be there to try those “Celebration” Mickey Pancakes and let you know how to best capture those #selfies with Mickey and friends!
